North Bridge Leisure Centre
Halifax
HX3 6TE

Sunday 16th February 2020

Previously held in Huddersfield, the show has moved to Halifax

As discussed at Telford, we will be staying in Huddersfield and driving over to Halifax for the show.
I have reserved my room in the Cambridge Hotel already.

Myself and Steve will be there as hopefully will be Dork

The paper work was handed to the show manager in person at telford.
I will be there. The dates have already been booked off at work.
Also have chatted with the venrable Mike McEvoy this morning at the hamex swap meet. He is considering joining us "north of the watford gap" for this one.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  :banghead: Weekend track work. So looks like I'll be taking a detour and going via Manchester rather than the normal route via Leeds.

According to my erudite sons, you have been "CHESTERTONNED"    See G K Chesterton's poem about" the rolling English drunkard" building "the rolling English road.  https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/48212/the-rolling-english-road

This describes:-    The night we went to Birmingham by way of Beachy Head, The night we went to Glastonbury by way of Goodwin Sands  and The night we went to Bannockburn by way of Brighton Pier.

Family Rheged reckon that this is a fair description of transport diversions generally............and the poem is worth reading, too!!

The Wooksta!

Wor Club is going but I'm still in two minds as to whether or not I'll join them - the venue is so god damned awful that it makes one all dewey eyed and nostalgic for the OLD Huddersfield venue that's now been demolished.  I understand why the organisers have had to use it and I sympathise but when the canteen facilities consist of a couple of pricey vending machines or a burger van in the market... I'm not going to go on, it's too depressing.

However, if Mike M is going, I may just have to force myself to go.

Weekend track work now means I can't make the Peterborough show on 1st March, and I don't have an alternative for that  :banghead:

Wooksta, quick fix, take a wander over the car park to the quite good Sainsburys (other retailers available.....somewhere!) and pick up the nosh of choice there, sorted!

I did last year, after the bacon sarney I'd had when I got there from the van under the bridge had worn off!

Did you start that High Planes Beaufort?

Trains and hotels sorted

The train journey's should be interesting. Not done two of the legs before, so made sure I've got window seats

I may not be able to make this after all.  :banghead:

My car broke down last week, it isn't fixed yet, and it's not clear when it will be. I have bought a maxi-scooter to get me to work, but since it's my only transport at the moment and I MUST have my own transport for work, I don't want to risk it on unnecessary journeys. It also has a very harsh ride quality, and I'm not at all confident that any models I tried to carry on it would survive the journey.

I've committed to covering the Crewe show the weekend after, for which I'll hire a car if I have to, so I'm not really keen on spending any more money on alternative transport to Halifax.

Given the weekend weather it could be even more interesting

I'm definitely not going to make this I'm afraid. :banghead:

Time and weather have worked against me, and I'm now in a position where if it rains all weekend as predicted, then I'm not going to Halifax on a scooter, and if it doesn't rain then I need to be fixing the car.

Sorry folks.
