Lots of shallow waters, so a coastal defence one would be quite handy. What sort of time period are you looking at ?

Somewhere in late 20s to early 30s  I think .

My thinking was, laid down in the early part of the century, before aircraft became a threat, and then modernised in the 30's with some extra AAA armament, new oil fired boilers etc.

current thoughts are  superstructure inspired by De Rutyer class cruiser

A report has come in from the Witte Olifant
She's no longer quite in her element
Two guns they make the enemy flinch
But not the third eleven inch
He is bust and from a repair would benefit .
