In 1967 the RAF  was offered 8 cancelled  Douglas  RB -66 Destroyer  reconnaissance bombers that were part of a cancelled order by the USAF. The RAF  at the time were looking  for a fast heavily armed  medium range maritime patrol  aircraft, and after  talks with  the British Aircraft Corporation, it was found  with some  considerable modification that the RB-66 would be  suitable for the job. All 8 aircraft were bought  and shipped  to two B.A.C factories  to be converted into  maritime patrol aircraft.  The weapons  bay was sealed up and a fuel tank put in, twin 30 mm Aden cannons  were scabbed on to the fuselage  between  the nose and front landing gear, and hard points  fitted to the wings. The engines were replaced  with Bristol  Olympus  ones, which gave  the aircraft  considerable more performance.  The crews  liked  flying the Pegasus as it was christened, and said it was the lap of luxury compared to the Shackleton's some had flown in  previously.
The kit is the Italeri  RB-66  in 1/72nd scale, not a bad kit to build, only niggle was the canopy  not wanting to  fit properly.  Decals are  pinched  from the old frog/ revell  shackleton and from the spares  box.  Some of the decals  did their best to  disintegrate, so some  are looking  a bit worse for wear.

I really like the look of that one !  I like the colours, and especially the demarcation lines. And the black nose. And not to belittle it, but anything looks good in those roundels !

I agree! Looks great to me. I have one of these kits in the stash and this would look great on the shelf.

Thankyou fellas, I  managed to build it with only a few mishaps, it still needs its exhaust nozzles painting as I had forgotten them, but I like  how its turned out.  Just wondering if I have room for my B-47 version  on the shelf

Thankyou Chris,
I keep looking at it on the shelf  and the more I look at it, the more I like it. I thought that the grey was too dark, as it is the Vallejo dark sea grey I used, and the tamiya paint  is paler than it.  Don't ask me  how much  fun the white was :-X
