That sounds as if it would be just as interesting as Max Hastings' book.

I think it was  !  But then I would say that, wouldn't I!   His Masters thesis on "Steel dinosaurs?  UK tank design and deployment since 1945" was also a fascinating read.

The Siege of Tsingtau - the German-Japanese War of 1914.

Account of the Japanese Campaign (with token British support) to conquer the German Asia/Pacific colonies in 1914. Plus the various political implications and machinations both before and after.

Picked this up in my local supermarket earlier to-day. A fascinating read.

Just got home from work to find the following had been put through the letter box

Airfile  Inform & Inspire
Hawker-Siddeley/British Aerospace First Generation Harrier
In World Service Volume 1: 1960-2000

Been after this for some time and a quick flick through shows that it was worth the wait

Am I alone in detesting the word "bookazine"?
I find it clumsy and contrived.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

It does.  But it doesn't make it anymore palatable.

Thank you people. I did feel that I would not be alone in my thoughts about the "B" word.
Now I feel happier.

Fair enough. I can see what you mean but it works o.k. for me. Beauty of the English Language that it never stands still ; as my old English master made me write out 500 times once

The other thing I learnt via that method was Pythagoras's Theorem. That was 1,000 times though  :-X

That'll be the 'square on the hypotenuse' thing, won't it?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Latest acquisition in my book buying spree:

Vulcan's Hammer by Chris Gibson.

I can't recommend this enough for Whiffers.  Focuses mostly on the UK  airborne nuclear mission with a LOT of abandoned projects and proposals covered.  Excellent stuff.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....
