All sorts of paint and filler and tape and sanding sticks and stuff.................
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

The other day I received in from evilBay two lots of three models each, all in 1/72 -

an Airfix Dassault Mystere B2, an AMT Saab Viggen, and a Buzzco Bloch 174;

a Frog Vultee Vengeance II, an Air Lines sea Fury, and a UPC Beaufort.

I've wanted a Beaufort ever since I read Olliver Philpot's story about escaping from Stalag Luft III.  He was flying a Beaufort when he was shot down over the North Sea during the Norwegian Campaign, IIRC.

I've got a thing for French aircraft, since I don't know much about them.  The WWII histories I've read tend to gloss over the war in-between Poland and Dunkerque.  I know the French Air Force wasn't idle, and I've heard that in spite of serious difficulties they fought with great skill and determination until they were either over-run or ran out of serviceable craft ...

and I don't know that anyone can have too many Sea Furies or Viggens.  :)

I doubt you'll see it that way when you get that Beaufort - it's the old Frog one and it's...  Not good.  Very much best left as a collectors kit or kitbashed to hell.  Adrian MF did a fabulous job with one on Britmodeller, but there was very little left of the kit as he'd used just the fuselage with the new tool Airfix Beaufighter and a lot of scratchbuilding for everything else.

If you're planning Philpot's aircraft, it'd be best to wait for the new Airfix one.

The ex-Aurora AH-56 Cheyenne re-boxed by Atlantic that I had pre-ordered last year, was at the post office today. One part of me says 'build it now' and the other part says 'you've got two GB builds to do first'   ;D  Decisions, decisions ----  :-\

Nothing's stopping you from slapping on Navy decals and torpedoes.   ;)
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Having just recently built a FROG Beaufort and a Novo re-pop I totally agree - do something weird and wonderful with the Beaufort you've just got and wait for the brand new shiny one to do Philpot's plane justice
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

The Wooksta!

I bit the bullet and shelled out for the two early mark Magna Swifts from Kingkit - F1 and F2.  Yes, I know they're absolute dogs but there are several reasons, largely time and money.

The only other option for those two marks is an Alleycat conversion, and as anyone foolish enough to do business with this shiester can attest, he'll take your hard earned within a day or two and it'll be at least two months before you see anything.  I know several guys who've forked out for stuff and are still waiting 18 months later, despite repeated calls/emails.  FFS, he can't even answer emails quickly - I wanted to buy some decals from a kit separately but it was SIX FECKING MONTHS before I got a reply.  This tosspot couldn't run a bath, much less a business.  Blah, Blah illness, blah blah family problems.  What next - dog ate your homework? Fine, if you have "issues" put the business on hold until they're fixed, don't feck about with customers because you don't know where your next one is and remember two things - disgruntled customers will complain and thanks to social media, the world will know soon enough and then where are you?

And then money.  The relevant conversions are 15 notes apiece, and that's before you factor in getting an Airfix Swift, and these go for about £15 these days, so that's 30 notes.  I've paid a few quid over twenty notes each for these two, so I can live with it.  Plus I'm not lining Alleycat's pockets into the bargain.  You've burned me once, pal, I ain't coming back for more.

I thought I should support the LHS in this time of crisis.
Turns out he's rushed off his feet and business is better than usual.

Came home with an Airfix B25C/D (to be built OOB in a RW RAAF scheme - just applied to the "wrong" aircraft) and an AMT '64 Plymouth Belvedere Super Stock (formerly Lindberg moulds - added to the pile of unbuilt* 60's super stockers in the stash).

*one day.  I am fascinated by that era of US drag racing.  Super Stocks. Factory Experimentals and the early Funny Cars.

That's the spirit! Support your local LHS.
I just wish that I had one that was closer than the current 30ish miles away.
Can't even go there at the moment, it would be "unnecesary travel".   :banghead:

I guess we are a bit better off here in Victoria.  Businesses are allowed to remain open as long as they can meet the distancing guidelines.  With the exception of things like pubs, gyms, churches, etc.
I was curious to see if they were open and they were.
