The Wooksta!

Why bother when you have the Henley which would have seen service in said role bar a change of requirements AFTER 200 were ordered and then wasted as target tugs.

TBH, you can only really do the new tool Airfix Defiant as a Defiant, due to the way that the fuselage flares out to accommodate the turret. The wings are really too thin to take recessed bombs, although I *think* I've seen a photo of one with external racks.  One as a light bomber wouldn't be a bad idea as the turret could be useful for defence, until the 109s realise the blind spots as they did with OTL Defiants.

Although one passed to Martin Baker to use as a test rig for their early bang seat trials would look rather interesting.  May well do that with the CMR one I have.

So what else would that wider section of fuselage be usefull for?
Paratrooper hatch?
A cluster of vertically mounted guns for beach strafing?
A large, vertically dropped but not too heavy munition.  Something like a fuel/air bomb maybe?
A retractable ball turret under the fuselage so, when combined with a pressurised cockpit and a three-stage supercharged and oxygen boosted engine they can fly above fighter escorts and attack enemy bombers from on high.

Ebay says I've won the Renard S.38 I was bidding on.  Which is nice.

Belgian pre war fighter.  Looks a bit like a Hurricane but with a Yak 3 wing.  Probably RAF markings as a hack - one or two escaping from Belgium to fight with the RAF.

Also won another CMR Swift for less than a tenner - having seen the breakdown of the Rareplanes one, I'm sure they used that as a master, which may explain why the thickness of the casting of some parts is like tissue paper.  Plus an original release Matchbox Meteor NF11/12/14.

I've also found two gullible idiots... grateful recipients for the refuelling set and groundcrew in the Airfix Battle of Britain airfield diorama.  I'd only bought it for the revetment base, which I want done in an abandoned overgrown state as a base of an airfield decoy Swift F3.

I thought you detested the M'box Meteor NF11/12/14?  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I've done the turret bit already, as I used one on my Barracuda IV, plus I attempted to graft one into the back of a Hurricane. That was doomed to failure as the Hurri just isn't wide enough there. :(

I have plans for this complete Defiant already though.............  ;)

But I'm not quite sure what to do with the other two sets of turretless fuselages & wings.

I started a project for a Finnish Defiant close-support version with skis, a much lighter Anson turret with a single MG, and bombs/rockets. It's hard to put a centreline pylon or dive-bombing crutch on one without moving the oil and water radiators.

Feel free to use the idea if you want.

I do, but it's cheaper than hacking about a Special Hobby one.  And given the multipart nature of the Matchbox kit, it's got more versatility.  I'd actually wanted one for the 85 Sqn aircraft, partly because I liked the scheme but after finding a 64 Sqn aircraft in the same scheme which fitted more with what I was doing elsewhere, I decided to do that instead.

Ta for that.  Some nice stuff in there.  Particularly the HAS, although it may be a bit snug for a TSR2...

They wanted Rocs for that role and nearly got them.  Given their use of the Buffalo and how they turned it into something less than a parcel of dog turds, they may have been the one air force to get something out of the Roc.

Ordered the Buccaneer S.1 conversion from Aerocraft, along with the S1 air brake.  Supposedly, this was different to that employed by the S2 but having scoured a good number of S1 photos, the airbrake looks to be identical.

Does the new Airfix Brick come with the earlier wingtips?  I haven't got one - yet.

And a Jaguar laser nose, courtesy of Sir Howard of Effingham, has just dropped through the letterbox.  Now I can get cracking with that stalled Airfix Swift.

Already assembled and installed and it looks... well, odd.  Haven't forgotten the decals, they'll go in the post tomorrow.

And ebay says I've won that new tool Brick I was bidding on.  That's the base kit for the S1 sorted.  Possibly RAAF...  Or maybe RAN.
