The Wooksta!

Ebay says I've won the Skybirds Sea Hornet F20 I was bidding on.  It's the hardest one to find of the four/five Hornet kits Skybirds did.

Speaking of Skybirds Hornets, I've just visited a friend who sells kits out of his garage and come away with the white metal bits from one of those - got for the props and spinners, though the landing gear could prove useful, too.

Also another Revell 1/72 Me-262 for whiffing.
Not sure into what, though Dizzy's Jet Dinah is a possibility - and the fuselage for something else I've seen somewhere, with a different set of wings and a single jet pod underneath.

Maybe.

Received from Firestorm, all in 1/35: Heads in Vietnam Bush Hats and a bag of arms with rolled-up sleeves.

The Skybirds white metal is some of the best casting I've ever seen, although it's a bit soft.  Apparently the mast for the u/c legs had something like 100 parts.

Second and third things I've bought this year.

One is a model kit from a buddy of mine here in Lawton that somehow came into about 1,000 models. I didn't ask because I can't tolerate sad news right about now and not sure if I'd like to hear of the details. I posted a couple pics and remarked on this not too long ago in my blog here.

Most of it was 1/48 & there are some rare and sought after kits in there but I don't "do" 1/48 because of space constraints but I saw one thing in all those kits that stood out so he said I could have it for $20. I said I'd give him $30 if he would drive it to my house. (5 miles but my truck is a gas hog and I have anxiety)   ;D

Next up, I heard some positive news about this nipper and found that it could be had for not too much money...  $12 after shipping later, I have a "Mr.  Easy Nipper."  And who can say no to that? Anthropomorphize two pieces of metal and a pin and it becomes "cute" and I can't resist! If it was "Easy Nipper" i'd say... "nah."  But MISTER Easy Nipper? Sign me up!

Nope, it's 1/144. The old Otaki kit, it's VERY good, but still fat.  ;D

I used to be able to see the real ones fly into Filton by standing on my front door step. It was like watching a Zeppelin!

Revell seem to have got hold of a number of the Otaki kits, the Revell 1/144 Lockheed C-5 Galaxy I have has Otaki embossed on the sprues.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

I was helping a friend clean out his old house today. It's been left to rot for almost three years. By the time I got there they had a few clear ( thankfully )  bags already filled that I was taking to the dump. In one bag I see a new tool 1/48 scale Avro Arroe box ! I ask if there's a kit in there he says he doesn't think so that bag is all full of broken glass etc. Needless to say, I checked the box, and have inherited a complete and kit in unopened bags ! Cool  It pays to help your friends

Nice find  Todd

lol ya, it was a pretty nice treat ! I'm glad I showed up when I did. I'm not sure if I mentioned it here, but about a year ago, we were over there shoring the place up after some crack heads were squatting in it, and out back I found the remnants of a revel-monogram 48th sale Spitfire ! I rummaged through the leaves and rubbish and found every sprue/ piece !

From Dadlamassu's awesome fundraising effort I received the following blasts from the past;

Airfix 1/35 Bedford QL Gun Portee
Airfix 1/72 FW 189A-2
Airfix 1/72 SA 341 Gazelle
Revell 1/72 De Havilland DH.2
Airfix 1/72 Bristol Bulldog II

All bar the Bulldog are kits I built as a youth.  The Bedford I built aged about 12 and I completely glue bombed it.  Looking at the instructions I can see why - it has a very intricate parts breakdown.  Like a current Takom kit.  Everything which could be a seperate part, is.
Gazelle is earmarked to be converted to Blue Thunder and the DH.2 may end up jet powered... ;D

Thanks Alan.  You are a master of kit packing.  I wouldn't want to play you at Tetris...

I suspect my Loft is ABOUT to increase its stock levels, as I'm staying in Lowestoft for a few days and I'm about a mile away from Big H's warehouse.  ;D ;D

You must show restraint Kit.  Gird your loins and resist the urges.  We're all behind you.  We know you can do it...

Looking forward to seeing how you go about this - I've had intentions to do the same for years, but couldn't work out how to do the glazing, so I'll be interested to see your solution.
About all I can think is folded acetate, but getting the bends sharp enough would be the trick...

Why not try and get either the old Monogram kit or it's chinese knock off?  There's also the 48th Aoshima kit which is stunning.

Broplan apparently do a Sikorsky S-76 in 72nd, which means HX-1 might be possible but apparently the kit is appallingly bad.

Ah, now I see what you meant by "great minds think alike".

You almost didn't have the chance to buy that. Alan offered it to me, & I almost took it, but a sense of foreboding overwhelmed my urge to buy both; so I went with the surge of relief & self-preservation that came when I decided only buy the one.
