The Wooksta!

When the conversion and postage costs EIGHT times the price of the donor kit, it really makes the price of the Aoshima 48th kit seem like a bargain.  Plus that's in the same scale as their Airwolf...

Cheers Lee.  I've 3 Airfix 22s, one Legato 22/24 and one Xtrakit 22 in the stash: Airfix as a 22, a 24 and probably a Seafire 46; Legato not sure but that might turn out to be a 46 as it's got the tail hook (and yes remove the PR19 'bonus features'); Xtrakit intended for as yet undecided whiffery (maybe add a Spiteful/Attacker wing and call it an F25 (I'm sure it's already been done)).  Also have 2 x Eduard (ex-Aeroteam) 21s will become a 21 and a Seafire 45.  One of them will provide the pro for the planned 46.  The 21s are good but not in the same class as the much more recent Eduard Merlin Spits, which are excellent.

As for the Pegasus 22 I built one of the second renditions some years ago and only recently started to scrap it pending building an Airfix 22.  That particular moulding wasn't bad - decals but no white metal, a vast improvement on the first version (my copy was in white and clear plastic, no decals or white metal, rather crude - don't recall what happened to it), but lacked a gull-wing centre-section plus the rear fuselage decking was way too low.

OK, thread hi-jack over!

Dave, if you're going to do the F25 with a Spiteful wing, use the AZ Spiteful as it's one piece and the fuselage is awful anyway.  The Aeroteam F21 is a copy of the 1996 CMR kit and there's something horribly wrong with the depth of the wing.  Legato did a boxing of the Admiral Seafire 46 - I have one somewhere - as well as the resin kit, which despite it's... heritage? is a rather nice kit.  The mk 19 feature is actually rather useful for a kitbashed F23 Valiant, with the wing from the CMR F21 prototype boxing.

Legato seem to be an early incarnation of AZ and some of the AZ kits seem to have been released in their boxes. Czech model firms seem to be rather incestuous and trying to track the parentage of some kits can be a nightmare

I'd forgotten about the wing issue, Lee.  IIRC in plan it's OK but in section there's some ballooning to contend with.

The Gazelle conversion cost jumps up when you switch from the US to UK, but Shapeways
have a manufacturing facility in the Netherlands.
:o

I wonder what percentage of the total the model designers receive.

That percentage can be set by the designer.

I have received a pair of Revell Flitzers from Chrisonord's stash clearance. This was expected.

Unexpectedly my mother has just handed me a Revell DC-3.
This she found under her bed while taking it apart before her new bed is delivered tomorrow. It's probably been there about 10 years.  :o  Who knows why?!

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

For the princely sum of $7 from a local shop, an old Airfix 1/72nd Fairey Battle. Hmmm... Radial engine?

If you do that, may be worth using one of the spare nose sections from a Matchbox Wellesley.  I think the cross sections might be compatible.

That's what I was thinking, because I have two spares of them already.
