The Postie delivered a package today

1 x 1/72 Toad Resins Ju388 L-1/K-1 conversionwhich will go well with an Italeri Ju188 I have in the stash, Might change the engines though......

Gondor

It's a lovely conversion to work with, although I'd recommend an L-3 with the Jumo 213 engines.

This site is a must:

hanks for the advice Lee and the link

I will still take that kit off you at the Scottish Nationals anyway

Gondor

I'd plumb for the L-3 simply as it's the easiest to do and least conversion work - you use the 188s engines rather than the 801TJs in the conversion*.  TBH, I envy you coming to that conversion fresh as I enjoyed the ones I did in the early 90s immensely.  I'll be digging in the loft at me Mam's later, so I'll know how many 388s are up there.  I do know there's quite a few Toad resins ones too, but I've no plans to part with them.

*Don't know which one you've got but the early releases had the fans molded integral with the engines and resin props, later ones had white metal fans and props.  If you can get a replacement tailwheel, do so as the one in the 188 looks nothing like the real thing.  Kora do - or at least did - several Ju 388s but they were very pricey.  There was another Czech resin outfit that did a 388 but they used ye olde Airmodel conversions as masters which were dodgy to say the least, although the Airmodel L-0 conversion was pretty decent.

In other news, ebay says I've won the Sword Seafire 17 2in1 kit I was bidding on.  Which is nice.  I am now stowed off with Seafires.

Ordered the Hobbyboss A-10 N/AW online. I have always wanted one, and with no hobby shop in town anymore, and the last time I saw one they were asking 46 bucks, I couldn't pass up 19.99 and free shipping.

Intriguing combination. I've always wondered if the Object 279's running gear layout would lead to maintenance issues, especially in the field. I assume they'd thought about that or was it purely a real world "What If ?" design ?

The Wooksta!

It's really superb and needs little filler.

Not quite a stash acquisition but more a rediscovery.  I was looking in the loft at me Mam's yesterday to see how many Special Hobby Ju 388s were up there.  On the way out, I find a Hasegawa Spitfire mk VIII that I'd forgotten I had.  That's coming down as it's the pointy wing version with the intake for the mk VII.  Not sure what I'll do with it just yet, although a Met Flight one with the normal wingtips isn't a bad idea.

Just ordered the Airfix Tucano and the Italeri Hawk 100 from a Portuguese online shop that had them on a 20% discount so the Tucano was 8€ and the Hawk was 12 so, with 7.26€ of shipping that's a good deal IMO, especially since i've been looking for these two for quite a while and the ones i've seen selling on ebay were around 30€ each!
But i know that i'll need to spend some extra money for the Tucano because of that horrible prop... :banghead:

Delivered today...

And the Tucano prop replacement from CMK has been ordered as IMO, it's worth it.

Also ordered 3x10ml jars of Tamiya XF-86 Flat clear on Ebay.

The Obj. 279 was designed to operate in a tactical nuclear environment, & was officially tested but was not exactly practical.

The Tamiya Mozzie is joining my slowly growing collection of 1/72 twin-engined bombers (an Aifix B-26B was another recent addition) all to be built RW (or only in whif markings, at most).

Hit up Wholesale Hobbies in Edmonton again. More Evergreen styrene and the Tamiya 1/12 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR MotoGP kit. Short lived machine, but looked so good in number 17, like a modern day Yvonne Duhamel.

OK, I don't have them yet but my wife is picking up 5 kits for me tomorrow. I can't remember brands (& in one case have no idea) but Eduard make one set, Modelsvit make, I think, 2 more & one, I'm fairly sure, is Eastern Express.

They're all 1/72 except the last;

L-39 Dual Combo (Eduard)
Something that looks like it might be a Yak-23 in Czech markings
TS-11 Iskra
BI-1
Il-96-300 (1/144)

I'll put up photo's when I have the kits.

Special Hobby do a Yak 23.  I'm sure one of the boxings has Czech markings on the box.  Whatever the brand, getting enough weight in the nose will be a challenge...

It's probably the old KP kit? It has a Czech Yak-23 on the box ("KR-17") and also comes with Polish markings, one air force aircraft and one research machine (SP-GLK).
