I've looked at alternate engines for the Airfix Heron.  As they house in line engines the standard nacelles are very narrow.
That has been a  stumbling block for me also  Fred, it could possibly get a wiff set of turbo prop engines on it if I  build it  ad a late sixties early 70's  aircraft. Propellers would need a suitable upgrade too

How about a pair, or more, of Turbomeca Astazous from a Pucara kit?

They're pretty narrow gutted, and you could use the entire nacelle, all the way back onto the wing.

The engines from a Matchbox Twin Otter are an option, too - the Revell re-boxings are quite cheap, and leave you with the option to outfit the TO with different engines...  ;)

Ah! You are looking for a Saunders ST-27.

If you can find one, the M&E Jetstream T.1 conversion would be ideal.  And even more rare would be the original Aeroclub Astazou conversion, which includes vacuform nacelles.  But I'm sure I've read recently, some outfit has announces a conversion set for the Airfix Jetstream.

It wouldn't really  fit in my time line of it was on one of the new carriers  Chris.  I  have set my builds  from 1950 to 1980,

Sorry Chris I wasn't very clear. I meant one of the "super carriers" we built in the 70's  ;)

I'm thinking of getting the re-released Heron Chris. Partly for nostalgia reasons and partly so I can build the one on poles outside the old Croydon Airport Building.

I'd forgotten about that.  You know i'm not sure I ever realised what it was up there on its sticks.

A few people I know don't even realise there is anything up there and they drive past it every day
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I was thinking about some  of those, does anyone make  aftermarket ones  still, I  know  aeroclub  did, but they are  unobtanium.

Not currently AFAIK.

One firm made those engines for the Airfix Jetstream at one stage, to convert it into a then current RAF or FAA Jetstream, but they're long OOP I'm afraid.

And these from BNA Modelworld.  Seafire will be a NMF Spitfire 22, Mi-2 will be civilian.  Mi-2 looks, in the box at least, as good as the Hobby Boss Mi-4.
Seafire Mk 47 by

Erm, why backdate a 47 to a 22 when there are vastly superior Spitfire F22 kits available? Surely the Airfix one isn't *that* hard to find? TBH, the SH kit is not great as a Seafire 47 to start with (too wide, too short, wing shape suspect), but you need to do a fair bit to backdate it to a Spitfire F22 (the upper wheel well bulges are bigger, the flap line changes and the radiators different due to said flap changes, not to mention the hook and the wing folds).  You're better off just building it OOB and using a snazzy desert or jungle scheme and explain away the naval mods as strengthening for use on unprepared rough strips, then try and find an Airfix Spitfire F22 to do the NMF one.

M&E and it was rough! The conversion did come with a new nose and decals.  I had it but it's long since been passed over to someone else.

Magna did a Jetstream too, so if someone had one perhaps someone else could be persuaded to clone said engines?

I wouldn't mind  a quartet  of engines  and propellers from a jetstream , if someone could  or has made  any that are surplus I  would  gladly  purchase them.

See my post just above Chris. BTW, the Aeroclub conversion now is just the nacelle front and the propeller.

As part of my Birthday Week celebration trip to the NC mountains I actually got to go in a brick and mortar hobby ahop today! Along with a selection of paints and tools I picked up a 1/48 Eduard F-86E
This is Hase styrene with resin seat, PE, canopy mask and a gorgeous Cartograph decal sheet for 5 different Sabres.

As an added bonus SWMBO noticed me contemplating a Tamiya 1/48 Mosquito B.IV so she got me that as a prezzie!

Not a bad start to birthday celebrations.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Ah, I  see Chris.  I am  still a novice when it comes to  the Royal navy and its ships.  My dad  wouldn't be impressed  as he did his national service in the navy, and  come out just before the Korean war. I will have a  look for some and see what I can find  Robert, if I find some  and they are not silly money I may just get some.
