En route to seeing my two daughters today I passed by an old mate's house whence he gave ma couple of  'non 1/48' models that he'd been saving for me. (He only builds 1/48 these days....)

One was a 1/72 Hawk Swift, which I've promised to someone on here, but I've forgotten wwo, sorry.  :( Was it you Chrisonord?

The other was a Necomisa(or Pegaso, both names are on the box...) Aeroflot Tu-104 in the ever popular 1/173 scale.  :-\

It comes with no instructions at all, apart from those needed to build the enclosed hangar, ramp and control tower in cardboard cut out form.

Yes, really....................
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Tu-104 is a re-box of the old Lindbergh kit. Pegaso later Pegaso/Necomisa was a Mexican company and primarily (only?)
a reboxer for the local and Latin American market in general. The cutout dioramas were a regular feature of the kits.
I have a Pegaso rebox of the very old 1/48th Olin/Lindbergh Navion kit.

I've seen the kit referred to as 1/175 and 1/188~189 (1"= 15'9").

I calculated the the scale from the span of the model viz a viz the span of an RW Tu-104, so it would depend how accurately they'd moulded it.

Now as I only model in 1/72 or 1/144 the question is, what can I scale-o-rama the 104 into?  ;D ;)

This one I quite like the box art.  But then again a few of the supplied schemes are attractive.  It's tiny.  The box swamps it.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

My Christmas pressie pile coughed up with an Airfix Hawk T2, or a Hawk Series 100 as they call it, in RAF, RAAF or RCAF markings. There's little chance it'll end up in ANY of those of course.  ;D

And I also had a Hobbyboss F9F Panther, a lovely looking kit of an aeroplane I've never modelled, ever!

A handful of nice finds in the Christmas pile from SWMBO

Tamiya 1/48 A-1H Skyraider
Tamiya 1/48 Sea Harrier
Tamiya 1/35 Cromwell Mk.IV

I'd mentioned I was interested in trying some tank builds and that I though a British WW2 tank would be good to try so she did very well with the Cromwell.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Under our Christmas tree was a parcel containing white primer spray, Citadel matt black and a set of very fine brushes

You could mount two jet engines on pylons fitted under the wings  like the Chinese XH-6I.  Tu-16 copy.

Then I'd have to find something to do with the two that are already clamped securely to each side of the fuselage.................

Do away with the cockpit section and blank out the cabin windows to build it as a 1/72 large recon drone or cruise missile?

On order from another Portuguese modelling store is another kit i've had my eye on for a while, the Great Wall Hobby 1/48 SU-35, from a Polish seller on ebay i got the Hasegawa 1/48 A-4M and two pairs of 3d printed Derby air-to-air missiles from High Planes Models site, one pair in 1/72 and the other in 1/48.
The SU-35 is also coming from a Portuguese store so it should be here next week and that will probably be the last item of the year for my stash. All i can say is that i'm a happy boy...

Add a rare one to that list, just saw it on ebay from an Italian selller for 20€ so i had to get it...  ;D It's the Italeri 1/48 AH-1Z kit, which represented the early development bird, with AH-1W "doghouse" and engine exhausts. It does have the 4 blade rotors and a few other mods of the actual AH-1Z Viper helo so this one will surely get the Fenestron tail like i did to the 1/72 AH-1W and i can leave the Kittyhawk kit to be built OOB.
