Captain Canada

Hey !

Here's my plans for this lovely little bird in CDN service. Of course, I'm not very computer literate, so I do it the old fashioned way, with a pencil and some crayons !

First off, the STA....

Standard hauler, with AAR probe. I'm thinking of 4 Squadrons of 12 a/c each for this one.

Second, the SAR variant. Basically a standard STA.

Squadrons ( 4 a/c each ) at Comox, a Det. at Yellowknife, Winnipeg, Trenton, Greenwood, and Gander, NF.

And of course, let's not forget the Navy !

3 Transport Squadrons, Pat Bay, Summerside and Shearwater.

And now, the 146-200

First, the standard hauler. I'm thinking a combi-type, with the STAs big door and para-door. AAR pods can be fitted.

Now, a 'Triple T'

Tanker/Transport/Trainer
3 Squadrons, Winnipeg and Trenton, with a Det. at Cold Lake, and the VIPs at Ottawa.

A Nav trainer, from Winnipeg.

All cool.
Now, if only that Revell-AG kit had been in 1:72 scale, eh?

It's a great little kit but, man, customized decals get hard to do at that 1:144 scale with such a small subject to begin with!!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

A CCG bird, with AAR probe, and sidescan radar, big flash camera etc. etc.

And my favourite, and Air Canada bird. In my big scheme of things, since the CDN taxpayer funds this dodo of an airline, we own the a/c ! They are all easily converted for military use, with the boom fitted and AAR pods. Notice the Reg. and the 'AIR' blanked out.

How about a gunship a la Spooky/Spectre?

I think your art way is better as result and involves more talent than the computer-helped way, do not feel ashamed: we would do the same if we could... Just a question: as there is no "copy and paste"/"save as... and open" in manual art, do you have to draw everything again for every colour change? Or do you use a transparent guide, the same everywhere? Well, maybe that is a secret of yours, I was just wondering :)

Does SAR means Search And Rescue? STA mean STAndard?

I have travelled in a BAe146 once and it was very unusual and rather pleasant. If I remember well, the main difference was going inside without huge stairs (thanks to the high wing, the cabin is lower? why most airliners are not using this wise recipe?).

Thanks for the kind words, Tophe !

I ued to draw one and then trace it by hand for the copies....this time I wisened up ! I drew each plane, and then scanned them, and printed off a 'tile sheet' with 5 a/c on each ! That was alot easier ! Then I could colour them all in.

Even my boy coloured one in !

As for decals, shouldn't be a problem. I've got so many sets from over the years, and there are always roundels around for small subjects, like Chipmunks and helos.

Never thought of a gunship, would be a good idea for this little bird, tho ! But it doesn't really fit into my airforce.

Cheers !

That's because it's viewed from along distance, flying over a desert, hence the heat distortian in the view

Cool drawings, I'd prefer the tripple T. Love the white color and the red striping in "lightning style"
Looks like you know what to do for the next few years  :D

Does DT's stand for alcoolic Delirium Tremens? :)
Parkinson syndrome would be another possibility, poor 146 :(
