Captain Canada

Hi Guys

I had built this in the early 90s, when I was in Trade school at Durham College in Oshawa ( Oshitby at the time lol )  We went to a toy store after school one night, and I bought the kit, a tube of glue, a Testors brush, and a tin of the old Humbrol gloss sea blue ( RIP ) and a bottle of Testors flat black. We went back to the hotel to watch the ball game ( World Series was on ) and drink a few pops, and I built her in one sitting. The other guys thought I was weird, but they were weird for not building models lol.

Fast foreward almost 30 years.....

I dug her out of a box, all props long gone, and decided to try and PVA the windscreen. Looked ok.

So I decided to make new props.

Test fit one to see if I liked it and should proceed. The spinners are from the leftover gun pods of my previously built Mohawk.

Now I can fly it around the house and enjoy the fruits of my labour. It was so much fun to just sit down and do something like this. Almost like getting back to being me.

Cheers !

Very impressive Todd.

The Tradewind is one super looking aeroplane, and it's great you refurbished it so well.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

Cheers guys. I love the small scales. As most of you know, I love to fly them around the house on missions. Some people think it's childish, but I love imagination and aeroplanes. And why grow up ? Who's rules is that anyway ? Any road, she's ready for action once again. I'm going to build a little beaching trolley for her to store her on.

Always good to see a build brought back to life  as a lot of time effort  and money goes into this bits of plastic  to leave them for dead. I  like the tradewind, I  was very  tempted  with a 1/72nd scale one  a while back

Who does/did a 1/72 Tradewind?

I can't recall one, but it's got to be MASSIVE!  :o

I've got one of the Combat Models kits Chris --- I bought the detail package that you can buy too. When I got it I had a look at the contra props and then asked the owner of CM if I could buy additional sets of them. And I could so bought a couple of them. Got a cunning plan for them -----   ;D

See the above post. I bought the Martin Mars at the same time, they're about the same size.

Didn't the Tradewind have the same troublesome turbo-props that Douglas used on the C-133?
