The predecessor to the the P.111 and P.120 was heavily  based on captured  German  aircraft  technology, and  a British built  early jet engine.  Although  not  a great performer  the RAF  put some  faith  in the aircraft  as a stop gap point defense interceptor.  The aircraft  more often than not  was fitted with a  rocket  assisted take of and climb  package  (built  painted  but not yet glued it on). This system  gave  excellent performance  to high altitude, and the jet engine  kept  the aircraft on station longer.  This  test aircraft  is armed with 2 30 mm cannons in the nose and 8 air to air guided  rockets.  More rockets can be carried  if necessary.  The  aircraft which was  yet to be  officially named  was liked by all who flew it especially  when  fitted  with  the rocket  pack, as it would  easily  break the sound barrier  in a climb.This aircraft  entered  testing  service  in early  1950, and would  continue to be  developed  until replaced with the P111.
Kit is the very basic  PM model Messerschmit P1111. It took me about  20 minutes to build it ready for paint, that is how  basic and simple  it is. I wanted to put a better  seat and cockpit in it but there is no room, and there not a lot of space to put enough  ballast in the nose either. I am going  to make some  intake  covers from painted  masking  tape  as you  can see right  through  the intakes.  It was fun to build  while I was waiting for  paint to dry on the Type 559.

It would have been quicker  if the fuselage lined up better, I had to hold  it ,and sand it when the glue was set too. I am currently  sticking a rato bottle on and some  masking tape  intake covers.  I shall  post some more pictures when I have properly finished it

I like to stuff some black foam-rubber into the intakes & exhaust if there's nothing provided.

[In my youth I often didn't have any black foam, but I had black paint.  ]

Thankyou  Tophe, I  thought an experimental  single colour scheme would work on this . I think I need more  easy build projects like this

It certainly suits the single colour scheme for sure Chris 

Simple builds do us all good now and then. I could certainly do with one once my Whitley is done that's for sure

I am  one of those that  usually has two or three builds going a onc just to  keep my  interest ticking over, I  had this my type 559 and an airfix  T11 vampire  on the go. The vampire  has turned out to be the most  painful.  The building was awkward and needed a lot of  putty, the paint  and masking  wouldn't behave  so iy looks a fair bit different to what I had planned, and the most  prominent of the decals  om the booms kep lifting.  I don't know what to do to get  them to stick  down  as they have  torn at one end, these are from the  kits decals too.

Same as me Chris. I tried the one kit at a time approach and just couldn't settle to it. 3 at a time is just about right for me, especially if the are all at a different stage in the process.

As for the Vampire. You get "rogue" kits like that sometimes for some reason

Yep although rogue  wasn't  the word I was thinking of 
It is finished  but it  might just get  shoved in the corner of shame if I  can't  sort the decals out.
