Designed as an air defense  fighter conversion that could  be done  with relative ease  on forward Harrier bases the conversion  gave  harrier  squadrons the much needed  self defense  capability they  were lacking.  The conversion  consisted of a modified  A.I.radar, in the extended nose  and a R.W.R suite in the  modified  tail section, and a pair of red top missiles. The conversion worked well during tests and was further  upgraded to  use the sidewinder and skyflash missile.  Kit is the airfix  Harrier GR1  in 1/72nd scale.  Kit went  together nicely  and rhe paint  mostly behaved itself.  Decals are  from the kit. The idea came from some  pictures Weaver put on of a GR1 modified to  carry air to surface missiles, so out come the  bits boxes.
