About 20 years ago, I bought myself a mustang. Great little car, big doors, handy for getting my wheelchair in and out, and economical!

Why economical? Well, I bought it coz' I like the shape. Had people laughed at me coz', ''It doesn't have a V8!'', so I got It really cheap!

No, It's got a 2.8L straight six! More than enough power, when you've drum brakes front and rear!

I still have the car, It's off the road at the moment, needs tons of work done to it, but I'll get It back blasting around the road again!

Love me little red Mustang, so I do!

...Isn't that an AC Ace? The straight six cylinder predecessor of the original 289 engine Cobra?...

Yes Kit it was.

Six cylinder Mustangs must be quite rare by now as I expect most of them have had V8 transplants.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Have yet to come across another one, over here at least.
At the car shows here, you'd find quite a few mustangs, their owners having kitted them out with big wheels and tyres, and lots of chrome,
and their ''expert'' owners telling me I was wrong, ''Coz' they only ever came with V8's!''

Some of the current breed of Mustangs have FOUR cylinder engines even, albeit with turbos too.  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The 2.3L ecoboost engine, a development of the mazda motor.
Was looking at one on tuesday evening, it happened to be in the local carpark.

Over here, the 2.3L is manual gearbox only, you have to go with the V8's if you want an automatic, which I'd prefer, but, 10 SPEED AUTO!  :banghead:

Dunno what was ever wrong with the good 'ol 3 speed auto!

That's been bred by the breed of narrow torque band diesels that need lots of gears, and even turbo petrol engines have been heading the same way. Both my Signums have 6 speed boxes, one an auto and one a manual, but my very 'old school' auto Volvo is a 4 speed.

Butt it has five cylinders, just to be different.  ;D

They weren't very good, that's what was wrong with them. The torque converter induced massive power loss, and acceleration was slow because the engine had to operate away form its optimal rev range because the gears were too far apart. So you ended up with a car that was slow and used lots of fuel.

Torque converter lockup and more gears were the answer, and by all accounts the current crop of 8-speed auto boxes are very good.

Well, all I can say is, I'm sticking with me good old 'Fordamatic!'  ;D

My Coupe DeVille has a 3 speed box and 5.7 Diesel V8, 0-60 in about a half hour, but It pulls like a train!
(As you probably guessed, I never In a rush anywhere! :o)
