Current status. Getting the outlines in - the trick about doing these drawings is to have lots of layers with things that are in front or behind other things on different layers. I use the same basic set of layers for these drawings - with each element doubled so that the outline and the fill are on separate layers. At the moment I have the fuselage outline and float outline layers with artwork in them (although not finished). I've also traced the "Bernard" logo that appeared on the fin (on the "markings" layer).

Thanks Eric! Some more progress - putting rivets on the floats, adding the wing, enlarging the cockpit and trying out some markings. There won't be any other panel lines on the fuselage as the HV120 was made of wood aft of the engine compartment.

Some work done on this today at lunchtime: trying out colour schemes. I'll probably stick with something like this, inspired by French navy floatplane schemes from the late 30s. I didn't want to overdo the markings, so I've replaced the Royal crown I used on the fins of my Syldavian Air Force profiles with an anchor. Based on the (I think) Uruguayan Navy aircraft insignia, but totally redrawn and redesigned a bit.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

lovely

the tail colors look nearly belgian

Yes, taken from the Syldavian coat of arms. But very apt for Hergé as well!

That looks great!

Small suggestion: why not make the fuselage roundel a tad smaller (10%ish?) so that it fits entirely on the fuselage instead of wrapping onto the spine?

Yes, I'll probably do that - this is just a preliminary scheme to get a feel of the look, so things will probably change. But yes, makes sense for the roundel to be on the fuselage only.
