Hi all

I have a completed blank profile.



Didn't see this GB so of course banged out 3 FAA profiles   I do have other naval subjects planned (and any suggestions are welcome) some of which I'd like to post here.

Could this be considered part of the prep phase?

HMS Cumberland. The Uk's first nuclear surface combatant. Basically an enlarged County with a nuclear plant, kept in serivce forever and constantly refitted because nobody wanted to deal with decomissioning her.

Random thoughts:

Dutch or Canadian - they kept their carrier(s) and went down the same path as the Aussies, but earlier.

German - replacement for the Sea Hawk instead of the F-104.

Spanish - say they got a bigger ex-USN/RN carrier than the Dedalo and bought the A-4 instead of the Harrier.

French - bought instead of the Etendard. This nearly happened later, with a couple of A-4Es (?) as potential alternatives to the Super E. They actually got as far as landing a couple on one of the French carriers as a test.

Given that you've got a -B profile done, it wouldn't be hard to do a -C. As far as I know, it's just a slightly larger nose with a normal radome (early) or a mostly-painted-over one (late).

The mods have talked and we have decided that unfortunately this profile, while being blank is too far along to be considered as a starting point.
We have already communicated our decision to Damian2 who has accepted it with good grace and has proposed a solution we are happy with.
We should probably have moved the thread into the inspirations place at the same time.

They didn't do that on any other ship with a Mk.6, even when they were doing a massive rebuild, and when you look at the details of the guns, you can see why. Despite the indentical calibre, the two guns use radically different and non-interchangeable ammo, that needs a different feed system, different stowage, etc, etc... Is it doable? Almost certainly yes. Is it worth it, given that the Mk.6 is a pretty decent system? Probably not. The only real serious downside to the Mk.6 is it's large crew, but if we're in a world where the RN can afford nuclear surface warships, I'd guess that that isn't so much of an issue.

 Royal Marine tanks existed in WW2, so a modern Royal Marines Armoured Support Group would be a possibility .......perhaps all named??  Her Majesty's Tank Anson, HMT Benbow, HMT Cunningham.....etc
