Here's a few pics to show I haven't completely forgotten this build.
Here's what the floats started out looking like.

I decided to lengthen the main float to better fit the A-10 fuselage. I used sprue to build a frame for the stretch.

I curled a piece of plastic sheet to wrap around the frame. Gaps filled with CA glue or plastic slivers.

Much PSR at the moment.

Next will be trying to build the box over the fuselage the wings will attach to and hold the main gear.

Those Aeroclub floats are pretty adaptable, aren't they? A pity we can't get them any more. :(

I did the same thing with the largest pair to go under a C-47, and added wheels to it as well.  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I might have to search the inter webby thing occasionally to see if I can find another set.

Heh, nice project - several times I've tried to cobble together artwork for a What-If tee-shirt idea that featured an A-10 with floats, amongst many other, even more unwise, modifications...

Scariest part is the idea of writing a backstory to try and explain this contraption!

A little progress. The float is attached to the fuselage.

Now if my wife would go back to work I might have more progress!

Looks like an updated Blackburn B.44.  ;D

I knew the shape was reminding me of something ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I was waffling about the gun and finally included it. What's an A-10 without it? Maybe a spray shield to protect it from water. I glued a strip of thin polystyrene cut from a food container along the joint to strengthen the connection and save on putty. Smothered in putty right now awaiting PSR. I'm thinking of adding the S-3 Viking horizontal stabs but in a vee configuration. This might be in the path of the engine exhaust so there will have to be plan B available.

Tee-Tail, to keep the control surfaces out of turbulent spray.  Use an original A-10 fin as the vertical tail and mount the Viking stabs on top.
Or, move the engines back and mount the Vee-Tail stabs onto the nacelles.

Well, here's a look at plan B. Its the S-3 tail parts in a new arrangement. I'm glad I'm not the engineer who would have to figure out how to do this for real!

It's tacked on for now so we'll see if I continue to like it or if I come up with another idea.

Putty on the model and retaping the drywall joints in the upstairs bedrooms. PSR all around me!
