Enlarged intakes are coming along. The parts that originally went under the wing are now on top, and a drop tank has been sacrificed to make the bottom. Wings are not actually glued on yet, but this gives an idea of the general look once they are. Still need to fair them in top and bottom. Puttying begins soon.

Drop tank from the Airfix Seahawk is getting its mounts trimmed and becomes two conformal tanks. Rear seat is being deleted, so I can mount it in the middle without altering the C of G.

I've never been sure about whiffing conformal fuel tanks. The real ones (F-16 and Super Hornet Block  III) always seem to be shaped different to what you might expect. Still, proposed Eurofighter CFTs do look like halfed drop tanks, so I'm probably being too squeamish. I'm interested to see how these turn out.
Whatever.

Personally, I'd rather go with underwing (slipper) tanks - I am afraid that those fuselage tanks will destroy the Iskra's slender and clean lines that go so well with the long wings!  :-\

That's what I was originally going with, but this struck me as a little more off-beat, plus it's easier than carving tanks to fit over a wing leading edge.

Okay, start the age-old U-2 fight; is it black, or very very very dark blue?

It's extra dark grey....................  ;D
