Ground Attack  and Flak

So things that shoot down and things that shoot up. And Occasionally the things that shoot down will shoot up the things that shoot up and the things that shoot up will shoot down  the things that shoot down .

Was it an F.11 Tiger that managed to shoot it'self down ?

I like the "Medic" theme, but would extend it to something like "Au sauvage", just for a bigger scope (e. g. for firefighting or plice vehicles)?

I've actually bracketed those 3 on my scribbled notes, so we are obviously on the same wavelength

Military doomed inventions

Not sure what you mean by this ?
For example the Soviet T-64 Tank, on paper it should have been a world beater. In practice it had engine failure,  complex  controls,  auto-loader breakdowns and a lack of safety features.

In a what if context, I'd have thought that would come under the umbrella of Really Bad Ideas or That'll Never Work as suggested by Zenrat.

Right I get your meaning and yes, I agree it would more likely come under the umbrella of Really Bad Ideas or That'll Never Work

Medic! A GB based on paramedics, doctors, MASH units, evac flights, Mad Max style ambulances, flying or floating hospitals. Could be military or civilian, Earth bound or in Space.

Fire! A GB all about firefighting. Souped up fire trucks, water bombers, water jets on tanks, bush fires etc.

Police! A GB about the 1980s pop band starring Sting. Or maybe not .  This one is obviously about law enforcement in all forms. Bonus points for including the phrase "Crikey, it's the Rozzers" on your build.  ;D

Or merge all together for a Blue Lights GB.

I'd probably* vote for this as an "Emergency Services" GB

Also like the "Pirates" & "That'll Never Work" ideas.

An idea I'd like to put forward is "Ultimate Dead Ends"; Real World projects which were cancelled (for whatever reason) taken & developed to the builders vision of the design's "perfection achieved". This could include anything from battleship designs, to tanks, to aircraft, cars, trucks or walking frames, etc.

(*: Depends on what comes up as competition & how many votes we get.)

And a Crusader did it as well IIRC.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Apparently Venom pilots could do that too ---- in the last issue of Air-Britain's Aviation World, there's a story about the operations in Aden (or thereabouts) and a couple of photos of a crashed Venom with a caption saying it shot itself down from ricochets ---

But at least the Venom was on operations not training as the poor little Tiger was  ;D

Well, yes and no to that, it was in Oman at the time, but the pilot was out on the range doing ground attack target practice.

HMS Trinidad managed to torpedo herself escorting  convoy PQ13  (torpedo gyro probably affected by Arctic conditions and malfunctioned on launch, going round in a circle)

Okay,  thanks for clearing this up.

Warsaw Pact aircraft Britain should have bought
This covers a vast range aircraft plus possibilities of upgrading or adapting them to the British military needs.

Logistics train GB.  Cargo aircraft, freight trucks, container ships, etc.  Not sexy but vital.

Indeed. The book I'm currently reading on the British Pacific Fleet has a fair bit about the Fleet Train and the lessons it had to learn/learned. Incredible amount of diversity and my current Kingfisher build has been partly inspired by this.

Affectionately known as "trash haulers" in service. Would be a great GB subject.

I would support trash haulers GB as I've had an idea tucked into the back of my brain for a long time now for an armored supply vehicle following tanks driving deep into enemy territory made from a Bradley IFV.

Logistics and transport (maybe including people/civilian stuff, too?) sounds like a viable topic to me, too.

zenrat

How about a special 14 day quarantine GB?
