B-36 Peacmaker Atlantis 1:184, my quick review & pictures

Perhaps like some other Whiffers I am a fan of the B-36 and was eagerly awaiting the re-release of the Atlantis B-36 Peacemaker. It is an early 1950's mold and has not been released in decades, so I was excited to buy one (ok two...).  $21.99 US on Amaz... Prime with free shipping.  Quick. 

I was struggling to imagine what would 1:184 look like?  Small scale, but a big aircraft.  I have a few nefarious B-36 plans but would hate to hack up the huge 1/72 Monogram which is getting rarer and expensive and is a fantastic kit.

Conclusion: a small, 1950's "toy" kit (but you can have fun with toys!).  Typical 1950's quality. Good quality plastic. No landing gear.  Would take some work to look good, and not a good place to start for an award winner.  But fun, small and inexpensive enough for some good WHIF hacking.

Is the Atlantis kit the same mould as the old Revell 'Fit the box' B-36?

If so I built 2-3 of those in a row back in the mid 50s when I was in RAF Halton Hospital. The airmen in there didn't want to build the kits but they wanted to have the models so I gladly helped them out.

Yep, it's the old Revell kit, one of the lot of moulds that Atlantis purchased
from the folks that bought Revell from Hobbico. There were a lot of old
Revell, Monogram and Aurora tools they didn't want, for various reasons.

That could be made into something very interesting in either 1/144 or 1/72 (I'd opt for 1/72, personally).

Ahah, I thought it looked familiar, with the markings in raised lines on the wings and fuselage, thanks! Even back then, I was 11 I think, I sanded them off so the decals would fit properly.
