Hi all,

happy rainy summer to all, lots of projects progressing but slowlyyyyy... sooooooo I needed a quick weekend project. Plus I had some paints I wanted to test.

Hope you like it, was a fun quick build :)

the kit
SIAI Marchetti from Special Hobby in 1/72 scale, pilot figure from PJ production, a figurine stand from games workshop and... a cocktail transparent toothpick

interior
Pilot was somewhat too vertical, all legs and arms had to be cut and repositionned.

Dash OOB

exterior
Fit was not great, gaps filled with melted plastic and instant glue

Painting

Main goal of the project was to test the new Valejo Shifters. Base paint in gloss black, and the checkers are made using matt varnish. The entire plane is just 1 color  ;)

impressive panel board at this 1/72 scale! (not 1/24!)

Cool build, in particular the interior

That paint scheme reminds me of another build, a full scale rebuild of a Mini with a Toyota AWD drivetrain et al. Crazy build, but fun watching. Google for "Bad Obsession Motorsport" and "Project Binky", and you'll find 36 episodes of full scale irl whiffing.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

That paint scheme is fascinating

The thing I like most about the build is the pose. You don't often see an aircraft build where it's in the "just taken off, retracting undercarriage" position. Well done
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Good job.  Like the paint and the pilot and the pose.
Seeing as i've just bought one of these i'm less happy with the pics of the fit.  But hey, ho.  That's what you get with Special Hobby.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I love it!      It reminds me of some of my Micro Machine toys I had back in the day (coincidence... as I mentioned these in another thread earlier today.. crazy) but some of my favorites were because of the color scheme and these in particular were some tan/purple-ish types that would shift color if placed outside in the sunlight. They had a bit of shimmer, too, and your paint work conjured these up in my memory because of the similar colors and effect. But... regardless of my tangent.... all the work is really nice here and it looks magnificent... great job!!!

Hi all,

thx for all the nice comments, keeps the motivation alive

Next up is a Whegg built as a gift for friend nicknamed "Evil" (could this be a clue as to why the skull...).

From the box build, pilot got converted from the included Soviet figure, Alcad paint and FalloutHobby Flames masks and of course masking tape (that is always fun)

Told you masking tape is fun ^^

Till next update... maybe a YF-23

Cheers!
