Would the F-16W be a worthy replacement for earlier F-16s?

Well, all i can say is that i'm obviously biased and will have to say, with all due respect: "Of course! With the lighter new wings, twin tails, new AESA radar, avionics and a 2D TVC nozzle, it would be much better than the legacy Viper."  ;D
But seriously, in the real world, i guess it could be a good alternative for countries that can't afford the F-35 and already used the F-16 but we know that it would probably cut some F-35 sales so, no good for Lockheed.
My idea with these mods was to create my view of modern F-16s but also, an "upgrade pack" that could be retrofitted to older blocks, for those countries that already had Vipers and wanted to modernize their fleets.
It's a bit like what Boeing did with the F-15E silent eagle proposal with canted twin tails and conformal weapon bays in the CFTs.
Anyway, the Viper block 70 is coming out now so, I'll keep trying to spam Lockheed's mail box with my ideas for the Viper.   ;)

And finally, after so long since i started this build, the final PSR session on the aft section of the fuselage went down this afternoon and with that done, the hardest part of this whole build has been successfully completed!
This has boosted my mojo quite a bit and is giving me the motivation to spend a bit more time at the bench.
Seeing that my modelling room's days are numbered, i have to make good use of the time i have left with this ideal set up so, my goal is to, at least, finish the three models on the bench at the moment, before the child is born,

So, back to the build, the parts i'd scratched were glued in place after the PSR was done, and then it was time for the twin tails to be fixed in place, canted at an angle just a bit over 75º so maybe more like 76º or 77º but who cares? I first went with what looked right and then checked the angle to see if it wasn't too far off the angle of the F/A-18's tails, which was just about what i wanted on the Viper.

The wings were just dry fitted to check for alignment with the rest of the surfaces but, after scribing just a few panel lines, they're the next parts to be glued on.
I'm hoping to be able to keep the mojo up and get this thing really going from now on. I'd really like to get this done before the end of this year...

Bloody nice work Dog man  ;D ..closer and closer matey
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Glad you like what you see, guys!
Indeed, closer and closer... today, i've managed to get everything aligned and the wings are now glued on and i couldn't help myself from taking another pic of it with the intake and canopy on...

Now i just have to fill the small gaps where the flaps meet the sides of the fuselage but it's a simple affair so, after that, it's time for the intake, CFTs, ventral strakes and all the small bumps and lumps i wanna add.

Well, another year gone by and finally, i'm set on getting this one over finish line so it's been getting my attention since i finished the Moroccan RF-5E.
The idea for these mods came from the thought of Lockheed Martin developing upgrade packs for the F-16, capable of being retrofitted to older blocks and also as extras on new build airframes, based on the latest F-16V Block 70/72.
Imagine if any air force could go choose from a number of packages of extras, like when you want to buy a car and there are the option packs with different engines, wheels, interiors, etc...

Here you can see how the H stabs would take up the place of the speed brakes in a configuration similar to the Su-27's so that means that, these Vipers would need a flight control software similar to the Super Hornet where the computer decides which control surfaces to move to slow down the aircraft.  ;)

I was taking the easy way but i've decide that the H stabs' hinges would have to be discernible so i carved out the shapes to give a better
This is work that, in hindsight, should've been done much earlier in the build to be able to do it a bit better but it is what it is...
I've been learning the lessons with each of these modified F-16s models and i have a much better idea of what i will do when i build one of these in 1/48.

Anyway, left to do on this area is just the sanding/shaping of the starboard H stab's hinge/attachment area to smooth things a bit.
After that, the DSI's interior needs to be sprayed white, masked and glued in place.

Good picture!
The fins without front extension give a very different aspect from the first F-16W!
