If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Lots of good music there... gotta go check out some of those you mentioned!
Do you remember Megadeth's 99 ways to die? Love that song... Machine Head's From this day... Korn, Deftones, NIN...
Pennywise, Bad Religion, The Offspring...those were some of the first punk rock bands i listened to along with Greenday.. then there were European bands like Millencolin, No Fun At All... oh man, all those bring back so many memories...

Well, i think that we keep this up, there will be 10 or 20 pages of this before i update the build... ;D ;D ;D
And obviously, if i ever get the chance to meet him, that would be an honor, he's one of my favorite singers ever.

That's a weird but interesting mix. Always glad to be of assistance, Tophe!
I called my Variant the W mainly because of the shape that the exhaust and horizontal stabs make.

The first version was a bit different from the one i'm building now...

I guess you can look at it as an M but the angles really make it into a W. Besides, there's no real F-16W so, that's the one i chose for the twin tailed Vipers.

I agree, most of our favs will live on in the music history pages. BTW, two bands i was forgetting to mention, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains...

Oh, my first F-16W wasn't black...  ;)

Good to know it inspired you, now get that Super Duper Hornet on the go, mate!

Yup ..forever..ya i remember them ..ya know they were never heavy enough for me ..i did enjoy Billy Idol..Steve Stevens knew how to rock a guitar ..Rebel Yell did the trick in the early days ..then Metallica came to the fore front for me ..Ride the lightning got me into ture metal and so on and so forth from there  ;D

Its not black ?? Bloody looked black to me..well i am 3/4 colour blind now thanks to the boom ..but yeah that looks black in that pic..so i take it ..its a dark blue or dark gray something like that then ?

Oh the Super Duper is away from the build stage yet..its still in the planning part..pretty sure canards will be included  ;D

The Super Duper Hornet is sounding interesting, i'll be waiting...
Well, talking about Metallica, IMHO the first 4 albums were and will always be their best. I will always consider "...And justice for all" to have some of the best songs and some of the best guitar playing ever. My brother is 5 years older than me and he became a metal head when he was around 12 or 13 so i was introduced to all he listened to at the same time when i was around 7 or 8.

Well, then that explains it. It is a dark color indeed and i can understand why you saw it as black. I painted it with a homemade mix of paint. I mixed Tamiya's XF-50 field blue with X-11 chrome silver but it came out with a kind of a metallic green tone to it.
I ended up using it on a couple more...

Anyway, time to get back to the current Viper build, been doing some sanding but i still have at least another session to go so there's not much to show now.

Agreed..their early stuff was their best work..then out came Load..my mate karl said it best and i qoute " its like they were kidnapped by aliens and replaced by four poofters" which i still cant figure out..Gay dudes aint all femine ..fact some incredibly funny ..a total pleasure to watch and laugh too..anyway it was Load which ended it for me and strangely Megadeth got even better.
Another strange thing is my mate Karl who got me into Metallica and Megadeth and heres a real kicker..Karl knows Dave Mustane quite well..hes got the pics to prove it and his absolute never sell item ..a signed guitar Dave played at a concert in Oz ..and ive held it  ;D ..im not worthy

Now to models   ..yup that explains  why i saw that as black..its very dark but i can see it better with your second pic and its a dark arse colour but it looks so good on the 16..it would look terrible on say a WW2 plane i think..seems to work best with sharp lines and no im not gonna steal it for the SD -18 ..thats it new name by the way

Mustane is a beast, no doubt about it.
Yeah, that "Load" album was a shock for me... but the truth is that, being a musician myself, i know that bands are made of ordinary people and they go through different experiences in life and that affects everyone in different ways. There are some things that fans will never understand because they don't know what's going through the minds and lives of a band's members.
Sometimes, these radical changes in a band's sound or look are a result of them just being tired of doing the same thing over and over for a long time. Sometimes it just feels good to do something different from what you normally do, even if others don't like or understand it...  but in the end, if you're doing something just because others want you to, you won't be feeling it and it can ruin all the fun, making it an obligation instead of something you want to do because you love it.
I know i've felt that so i can totally understand such a change, even if i don't like it, i'll still respect it.
As a fan, well, there's not much i can do about it other than look for something else to listen to or just keep listening to the older stuff that i like.

Regarding the colors, i admit i really like darker colors on almost anything... a bit like Mick used to sing...

I fully bet and understand the losing the love sort of thing.
Im no musician by any means but i am a model builder who got stuck building commission builds for this guy and mate i was knocking these things out..i spent thousands of hours building and building and when he was done ibwas done too.
I didn't touch a model for damn near 2 yrs ..juat didnt want to know about it but as your well aware the bug bit again and here we are.
The biggest problem with Load was there wás no power in it..James voice was dead and you know what im talking about here..James voice was pretty damn good but its like it was warn out on Load..Cunning Stunts was a pretty good album ..alot of B sides stuff and some pretty good songs.
I think one thing which affected alot of Metallica fans was when they sued that dude for putting their music online for free download..that really annoyed a heap of ppl and gave them the feeling that Metallica was now only in it for the money.
Hell Megadeth put a brand new album online for free for the fans to listen too and if they liked it they could buy the album and it worked..i did and mate i was not disappointed  ;D..still have them both .

Ive been painting all day today..building the Huey for my heli carrier truck..havent even started to weather it yet ..still got to spray the interior with a gloss varnish so the weathering can begin.
Thats the annoying thing with helicopters ..ya gotta do everything before you stick the fuselage sides together and i already know thats not going to easy..there is a gap which ill have to fill when the sides go together.
Ill post the build on here later next week.

You know, i can hardly see myself building for commissions. First of all, i'm not that good of a modeller so i'm pretty sure nobody will ever ask me to build a model for them, let alone pay for it.
Second, i only do this when it feels right and i'd have to be at home with no other job to take up most of my day in order to have time to do it properly.
One other thing that would definitely be a barrier is the fact that i'm not into building models of real stuff. I've only built 4 of 5 models of real world planes and those were mediocre efforts, to say the least.

These are what i can call my best efforts at a real world subject. The Me-262 was a kit i'd given to a friend's son and he wasn't able to finish it so, he gave it back to me to finish it and then i gave it back to him.
The canopy was very damaged with CA glue and i couldn't fix it so, i just painted it black. Landing gear was gone so, it had to be done in flight mode.

I don't think i would have fun building stuff that i don't care much about so i don't even think about it. And i understand the burnout it must have been to keep building stuff for other people. Not for me, that's for sure.

Yeah, i was a bit disappointed at them for suing that guy but i can also understand that. Record labels are thieves and most of the deals they offer the bands are simply a rip-off so, the artists have to look out for what makes them money. For a band as big as them, selling records is a big chunk of their income. The gigs are the real money maker for any band but if you've got a fair deal with a record label, the percentage of each record sold can make up a good sum at the end of the year so i can see why they did it.

You wouldn't want someone to sell your models without your permission and keep all the money for themselves when it was your time, dedication and work that created the model, would you? Imagine doing what you did and getting nothing in the end...
But still, they  had been a big band for a long time when that happened so i don't think they'd be in poverty because of that.

I'll be looking out for that Huey, i love that helo.
