Seeing the new Unicraft kit of the Convair Flying Sub I remembered that I had the Russian pre war one in my stash somewhere. I ordered the Convair one and am building the LPL Flying Sub in the meantime.

Here are some build pictures of the LPL one. This kit is from 2009 and has the typical Unicraft brittle resin.
Curious to see if the new kit is of a better standard.

Box Art

The parts.

Main parts fitted together

And first application of lots of putty.....

What do the aero props do when it submerges?  :-\
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Great project
Making it actually is great, the Real World did not dare to do so... ;D

I remember seeing that box art and thinking, oh yes, and then woke up and remembered it was Unicraft  ;D I'm looking forward to this because I know you will make a silk purse out of a sow's ear

That will be interesting Tom

I had a try at that one some years ago, because it has floats, and because it is simply an amazing topic.

This kit is a bit amazing too, actually ...

Shouldn't their company motto be

"It fit's where it touches...... if at all"!!

That thing looks like it was carved from silly putty! Good luck, I'm sure it will come out fine.

Good lord, Tom.  Did Igor carve the masters from a bar of soap or something?  It remind me of his old Burnt Offerings.

I've been told on a couple of occasions that the masters I quite nice and that it's simply the quality of the resin he uses that causes most of the problems ? It could just be hearsay, but....?

Build completed, lots of putty and sanding and now a first layer of paint.

It's certainly got a "cartoon'ish feel" about it. I think it's the rounded/curved lines ? I know what I mean  ;D

I think that's one of the first times I've seen a Unicraft kit in overall silver. I'm very impressed
