I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

You can watch the launch and see it in the sky:

Or not...

I don't remember The Enterprise or The Millennium Falcon or the Liberator ever having problems with the weather.  I guess it is a sign of a mature space program that you can launch in bad weather.

Did Enterprise or Liberator ever return to their home planet ? Indeed I'd always assumed they'd been constructed in a space dock and had never "landed" so to speak ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Enterprise (at least the later ones from TNG) was able to fly in the atmosphere and land.

For a first launch especially, good weather is a requirement because that allows for optimal monitoring.

Ah right. I never really got beyond the original Star Trek t.v. series I'm afraid.

Voyager (admittedly a smaller ship) made quite a habit of planetary landings.

I know, went out to see it last night and thought I'd missed it wasn't fully dark.  Fingers crossed for Saturday.

It did in TOS, albeit in a round about way.  It was accidentally sent back to modern day earth and was aptly intercepted by a Starfighter.  AMT do a set with a 1/48 F-104 and a tiny Enterprise to represent the scene in forced perspective.

In the Abrams movies, the Enterprise is constructed on the ground but in other series they appear to be constructed in space.

Don't forget that in Into Darkness, Kirk and Co. hid the Enterprise underwater...and the Vengence crashed into San Francisco, taking Alcatraz out.

In the one with the whales (ST IV - The Voyage Home)  they land a cloaked Bird of Prey in San Francisco leading Kirk to say "remember where we parked".

I can't remember if The Defiant is ever shown making planetfall or operating in atmosphere in DS9.

However, Colonial Marines Drop Ships can operate between LV-426 and the orbiting Nostromo in abysmal weather.  And with a huge xenomorph queen as a stowaway.

They also landed on Vulcan in it at the end of The Search for More Money Spock.  IHMO, Birds of Prey of that vintage were more along the lines of assault and patrol craft than the scaleorama'd cruisers of the TNG/DS9/VOY era

Obviously my mind immediately goes to "how do they go to the toilet?".
I presume there is a built in nappy (diaper) and/or catheter.
