Hey guys!

Here's a sneak peak to my next web update, I started my Grand Phoenix 1/48 Firefly I (   ).

As Thorvic had sent me the Airwaves wing fold set, I decided that I would cut that beauty up.  I was a bit nervous, as it is a fairly expensive kit, and I'm not one that is good with the cutting jobs.

So, here we have the area to be separated on the top left wing.

After some deep breathing, this is the results.

Now, for the really hard part, the bottom of the thing.

And the results.

I still have to clean the bottom parts, but I'm satisfied!

Thanks Geoff!

Hey, you can hack up MY kits anytime----looks like lightsaber-fine cuts to me!

This is going to look great!!!

And, knowing you, it will be done, what, by next Friday????

Ha, but the picture hides the fact that the lines are not that straight.  I'm sure you're better than me!

And it will be done in a while, there's tons of resin in that bloody kit!

Nah, my digital camera performs secret "miracles" as good as the next modeler's!   ;)

We had another fire at the plant, I've been all call all weekend again so I'm willing to bet Ollie's wing-fold conversion will be done before anything of mine.    <_<

Sum total of my modeling this weekend between call-outs:
- some puttying and sanding of my Morsair and Mustang T-51 T-Tail trainer;
- put the engine into the cowling of the Morsair.    Whoo-hooo, eh?

Not so spectacular.  Radish could get that much done during a single commercial set while watching the tube!!

Oh well...

Good job Ollie!  I know that fear when you start cutting up a kit

I'm looking forward to seeing this one progress :)

Looking good Ollie, looks like a nice and clean cut. I admire people who cut up their kits to make something that doesn't look like the one next door. I still hesitate to do so. Need to cut the wing slats on a F 100 but I'm a bit reluctant to start it. And that's on a cheap older Italeri kit.  :(

Ollie

Well Patrick, the only way to know if you can do it is to try!!

;)

It's not that hard, really.  If I can do it, so you can.

I'll keep you boys posted on the developments.

Barry, fix those random fires, will ya?

  :)    :D

I've found the best way to chop kits up is a good set of 'O-ring' picks.......they usually come in a set of four, with a straight, 90 degree, curve and hook. They folloe panel lines easily, and you just keep pulling them across.................too easy !

Cheaper than your average panel-scriber?
