Given the granting of an extension I should be able to knock off a quick paint and load out whiff of this simple kit.

Great box design on this one.  It's an aircraft i've always liked the look of and which I accidentally ended up with two of.  Plus a Cougar.  Although I think the Panther better looking than the Cougar.
This will be in the usual dark grey over sky and will probably carry rocket pods to match my previously built RAN Banshee and Sea Hawk.

This photo from Wikipedia shows how visible the Panther's panel lines were.  A look I will be aspiring to.

Panel lines? I thought Grumman machined their aircraft from the solid, like Blackburn!  :o

Not for nothing did they call the Grumman factory 'The Grumman Ironworks'.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Every time I see that box art I think of William Holden

I remember drooling over that box art in the Beatties model shop above New Street Station back in the day!

Looking forward to your take on this one....
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

Ah Beatties. I used to work virtually opposite the High Holborn one. Lunchtime was either the pub or Beatties. On a good day both  ;D

We had the odd IPMS Committee Meeting in  the Holborn Beatties, usually when the Hon Sec had left the keys to the meeting hall at home, which was in Watford or somewhere equally distant! :(

Parts count does look on the low side.  Some of these kits would likely take about 10 minutes assembly time, but a deal more to paint and perfect.  Have a soft spot for the Panther- likely from watching the Bridges of Toki-Ri as a kid. Looking forward to it.

Parts count is about 12.

Aircraft in the photo looks to have been carved from black marble or obsidian.

I may have to re-watch Bridges of Toko-Ri before I get too far into this.  According to the wiki page for it in the book they were flying Banshees.

Failing to meet the 10 minute deadline i'm afraid.
I probly shouldn't have spent time on the interior or the pilot if I wanted to hit it.

Yertis as is.

Hmmm, longer wings and a pointy nose may be in order when I build the second one in the stash.

I've finished the major stage of sticking bits together, sanded the result and then primed it.
It needs some putty.  Mainly around the nose seam, lower intake seams and rear centresection to fuselage join.
Looked good flying across the shed to the painting table though.  Strafed the mitre saw on the way past.

Cool, one of my favorite jet's.

Actually I cannot think of a straight wing jet that I don't like...  :-\

I'm sure yours will look awesome.

Thanks mate.  I know what you mean about the straight wingers.  I've also got the Hasegawa Cougar and looks-wise it's not a patch on the Panther.

No work on this today other than a quick flight back to the bench.
