Here's one of my Griffon powered Fleet air arm Sea Mustangs. The aircraft  is based at NAS Couldrose in the early  50's, and is one of about  25 modified  ww2 era RAF  Mustangs  given to the FA.A. to compliment the  Sea Furies sent to the Korean war.  A more powerful and  upgraded version  using the P-51D and a contra prop  Griffon engine  known as the  Seastang FR -4  was also developed for the navy from surplus  aircraft.   This is the 1/72nd scale  Hobbyboss P-51C with some  modifications  including a nice 5 blade propeller courtesy of the Wooksta, and some engine  cowl bumps made from pieces of sprue. The arrestor hook is  slightly  based on the one fitted to the Seafire  but fastened to the  fuselage  instead of the  tail fin. The kit went together really easily, but needed a  bit of putty and sanding to get a good fit in places.

I like that very much, it's very 'Naval'.

How come it's not in the 'In the Navy' GB?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I totally forgot about  the GB Kit, would it be possible to  enter it/ move it over.  I have been on autopilot for  the last week or so , so things that should  twig haven't been.

I should think it would be, you need to ask Old Wombat or Zenrat, who are the mods for that GB.

Thankyou Kit, I have been doing too  many  things at once, unfortunately mostly  real world.  Packing my belongings  and looking at  houses  as well as  working on my triumph.

That works really well Chris  Got the looks of a single seat Firefly about her.

As for moving the thread ? If Old Wombat and Zenrat are o.k. then I'll shift it for you.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thankyou guys  I  quite  enjoyed building it  as it was a fairly simple one to do. The next one is the airfix  P-51D, and compared to  the Hobbyboss kit , quite  ragged  and in need of a lit of sanding on its edges.

You started it after the GB began didn't you Chris?

Then it's OK by me.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Most of the Griffon-engined Mustangs I know are Reno racers with contra-rotating propellers to have no torque, no matter the huge power. How your model controls this issue? (like Spitfires 14-24?) <_<
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

This is based on an earlier  Griffon engine, my next mustang build  will have a later griffon fitted  and will have a contra prop  on it Tophe, I  have  done  a wee bit of homework on  this build, but I am  sure Lee will put me straight  on it if asked.

Well Rolls Royce was going to do this for their Griffon engined Mustang   ;) This was called their Private Venture Fighter.
