This is my main build for the GB, although the real world may well interfere. We shall see

Tophe

Will this be the very first V-tail Bf-109 floatplane in the whole world ever? Congratulations if you succeed!
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

NARSES2

Not as complicated as that Tophe. Straight from the box I'm afraid.

Anyway I now have a series of sub-assemblies awaiting paint. It helps that I've built a few of their F's, G's and K's and they are certainly at the top of AZ's tree when it comes to overall quality  So that helps, plus I also know about a couple of a little "quirks" in the instructions.

I think I told you this before but better safe than sorry.

Have you cut the tail off yet?
Cut behind the panel line not on it or you will have to add a packing piece.  Don't ask me etc.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

You did, and I forgot  :banghead:

I cut just behind it and it will need a little work, but not to much. I've put a note in the box of my other two.

O.K. progress

For The spares box. I've iincluded this shot so you can see all the bits you get for the spares box. You actually get more than this as the boxing includes some options for what you are building as well. The K boxings give you even more spare parts.

I'll give it over night for the glue to harden and the p.s.r. will start tomorrow. I don't think there's too much to be done. Hopefully I'll get the tails on tomorrow as well.

Don't forget there is a panel line running along the top of the fuselage.
There are debates on-line over by how much this should be offset.
In 1/72 the answer is...

... not worth bothering about.

I combined one of these with the long wings from the long winged kit.  The remaining parts will build a standard looking G...

...or provide whiff fodder for something weirder.

Panel line on the top and bottom of the fuselage. Comes in handy although if I'm honest I'm not going to re-instate any that disappears. My had/eye co-ordination is just not up to it nowadays  :-\

Anyway the butterfly tails are fitted and it was a good fit, although I'm not going to measure the angle, looks good enough to me and I can always say "but yes this is the production version"  ;)

I've had a couple of day's feeling a little bit "yucky" so not much progress although I've started to get some paint on her. Hopefully will finish in time.

I've got her major paintwork done last night/this morning so at least she might get finished by the deadline. Try and get her transfers on tomorrow morning, but Palace are on live tomorrow evening. We shall see. I've already made a couple of errors, but that's my fault for rushing. I'm afraid if I try to push it nowadays, it just doesn't work.

Bitch!

OK, now that's out of my system (title plus what I wrote) ......

Not really a fan of butterfly tails but I wait eagerly to see where this goes, Chris.

Palace won, mind you Bournemouth were awful. Still mustn't look a gift horse as they say

Anyway here's my 2020 One Week Build entry finished. My second build will get finished in the next 10 days or so, but I've moved it to the main Builds section

Bf 109G-0/R6 "Black 2" JG 27, flown by Oblt. Zdenno Machatzek Graf von Tobitschau, Gazala, Lybia 1942

The AZModel kit, in one of the options provided in the box. It's a nice kit and the minimal changes are easily accomplished and you get lots of unused parts for the spares box. The 109's are definitely the best of AZModel's stable and I've a few more of various versions, both real world and Wif in the stash.

Very nice work, Chris! That canopy looks so crisp!

Neat!

(Still not a fan of butterfly tails, though. ;))

Agree with DfZ, the canopy does look crisp - but, then, so does the rest of the paint work.

Neat and crisp and even.  Good job Chris.

I have a Stuka Anton to paint in a similar scheme.  Eventually.
