The boxart decoration, with RAF roundels, seems already what-if, no? ;D

Actually no, Tophe.  A number were taken into RAF service - see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morane-Saulnier_M.S.406.

I was surprised by the markings when the kit was first released.  Later built one out of the box.

Interesting... I did not know at all. ;D
While... the article is mysterious: yes there are in the text words saying "joining up with the Royal Air Force (RAF)" but the (complete?) list of operators does not mention UK/England/GreatBritain. :-\

Routine start - fit and paint the cockpit interior.  Some tarting up later - seat belts, bit of painting here and there - not much but enough to provide a little contrast/relief, there won't be a great deal to see when it's all closed in.

Up north this week to create a 'support bubble' with my mum, who's been feeling the strain of lockdown of late.  Taking the model with me; will provide progress reports but unlikely to post additional pics before Friday/Saturday unless I invoke ' Plan B' (thanks for that, Chris).

IIRC, the MS 406 with RAF roundels was operated in Palestine in 1940, by No.2 French Fighter Flight, RAF.  ;)

<_< Yes, the profile at https://www.lesmaquettistes.com/t2528p50-morane-saulnier mentions "Haïfa October 1940", and Haïfa was in Palestine before the 1948 war. :-\

Fuselage, wing, tailplanes, radiator all fitted in place; propellor, undercarriage legs and wheels/tyres painted.  Some filler needed but that's for tomorrow.

The 406 now has legs and the prop's assembled.  Canopy fitting and undersides painting later.

Fastest build in ages, must be careful I don't give myself a nose bleed!

A Hurricane in this quasi-French livery (French machine re-captured by British forces) should look interesting and confusing, too?

I've built a Tomahawk, a Corsair and an MS406 in the past and they are fun. Which is what any hobby is about, isn't it?

Meanwhile the canopy is on and the Gris Clair slapped on the undersides.

Masking and some Vert Foncé on the uppers tomorrow.

My dad always said "you'll earn a slice no matter wot  ;)"

Anyway's here's Dave's Ms 406 sans canopy framing

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Canopy framing bottom coat applied.  Vert Foncé options tested, Humbrol 105 looks the best option (I think I have a tin).

Tomorrow morning it's time for more  masking plus some Vert Foncé.

Hmm, no I don't have a 105, 102 I do have but it's all dried up.  Bu88er.  Try a tin of 115.  It doesn't go on that well (certainly not well enough for this GB).  So wipe away and slap some Revell 39 down.  Just about abOut able to bring the contents of that tin back to life.  Very matt but by heck it dries quick, and one coat should be enough.  Only remaining painting is the spinner cap, which needs to be black (a quick job later with some acrylic).

Right, we've got ourselves an MS.405 paint scheme that'll be explained away in the back story.
