Good deal!  Thank you. I would like to get this done pretty soon but here it is noon already today and there's no way I'll get it finished in time.  :o

Back to work!  Missed the GB but that's no reason to abandon my project. I've since finished cutting out the holes for the gear bays. I'll need to do a bit more of shape fixing in one area to make it match the other side but the edges have been smoothed and they're all in pretty decent looking shape.

I also realized I glued the wheels on the wrong way to the main gear struts. Going to have to snap them off and re-do it but at least now I have time to notice and correct these things.

I also keep forgetting to address nose weight. I imagine this needs it.

Fascinating....   While greatly appreciated, and I feel that I and my plight have contributed to the thought process behind the decision (and thus even MORE appreciated ),  I shall abstain. I also appreciate the fact that this has been an unprecedented year and if there would be any time to alter things a bit, this would be it. I don't bemoan those that wish to proceed.   Out of respect, though,  for those that met the deadline, I will sit the remainder of this one out.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks!!!    Boy... I tried to work on it yesterday just to see how much I COULD get done and didn't get anywhere near a completed model anyway!  ;D

The F-86 is part of my what if Indian Air Force (although unbuilt as yet), so it'll be interesting to see what you come up with.
Whatever.

TheChronicOne

Cheers!  I'm not totally decided yet myself how the paint is going to go down so I'm right there with you.  ;D

Back to it!

Been planning and re-acquainting myself with what I'm trying to achieve here and further researched the paint scheme and got some parts painted. It's not a lot but I'm moving again and that's nice. Now that I've re-established a foothold on this build I'm looking forward to working on it again tomorrow and getting some serious work done. I'm ready to glue the fuselage together and probably put all the wings on, too.....   might break these two processes in half to facilitate PSR, but who know.. I'll make my mind up when I get there.

Cleaning up of seams is next then probably glue on the horizontal stabs.

Got some decent work done today! Sanded and did away with seams, painted some things like wheel hubs, a coat on the missiles, and primed up gear doors and the drop tanks. Good amount of sanding on the airframe... getting close to being able to glue on the canopy, tailplanes, and getting it primed up.

;D     I may regret it, but I plan to get through that phase at warp speed. Going with NMF it could be problematic to fly through it but who knows?! I want this done by Sept.

Aircraft is together and painted.  Cleared to smooth out the roughness of the type of paint I'm using (which I shouldn't but uhh... well.. it's alright anyway  )...... the missiles and gas tanks are now on, as is the nose piece. I painted a wee radome on it. Dunno how accurate it is but who cares.  ;D

It's on a stick like an air combat maneuvering training aid model. I "flew it around" a lil bit at one point.

Here's the gear bay openings I cut. You can see clear into the model. I cut the things open but wasn't trying to invest in this deep enough to create actual bays; this was initially a build for the ONE WEEK GB anyway. I figure this is good enough and with the gear and the doors on it'll look just fine sitting there. But.. don't look up her skirt.....

So that's that. Some of the work here is quite a bit below my own usual standards. I'm basically passing straight through PSR so certain gaps, seam lines, etc will show up. I DID take *SOME* time on these issues but I didn't go overboard or even, in some cases, all the way to the point where they are hidden. I'm just trying to make it look really sharp "sitting there" and not necessarily to stand up to up-close scrutiny. I just want to finish something...

Next phase is to actually apply the transfers then after do the camo to give it that "this was applied later" vibe. Probably be on that tomorrow. Had some fun with it today and everything went well, including the repair of nasty crazing.
