Another Hobbyboss quickbuild, a bit more to do with this than the MS.406 and again after today probably no pics until Friday/Saturday.  Once again start with the cockpit (more work needed, obvs), some additional bits and bobs done too.

Like the MS.406, cockpit/wings/fuselage/tailplanes all cemented up.  Undercarriage more or less painted.  A little filler needed, again something for tomorrow.
Once the PSR is done, the u/c can be fitted.
Ah, just remembered, engine must be sorted before u/c fitted.

Powerplant sorted, a bit of PSR needed before u/c can be fitted.

That's the puttying done (thank heavens for Perfect Plastic Putty!).

Modicum of sanding needed tomorrow, tyres will be painted and when dry the main u/c will be fitted.  Canopy will also go on and some undercoating done.  The metallic finish needs undercoating.

This is my first ever P-39!  Have had an Academy P-39Q in the stash for eons, and recently sold on a Heller P-39.  It's a design that's never excited me to be honest.

Now the canopy's on and masking looms I can see why I've never built one - the canopy framing!  Aargh!

The Wooksta!

That has to be Russian, or possibly one of their WarPac allies - I can't see the US using German engines when they were working on better ones themselves and had British ones as a backup.

North Korean would be interesting.

Good guess, Lee.  It'll be an 'Su-7' engine test-bed, precursor To the Su-9 (google Su-9 1946).

Full back story rattling around my head at the mo!

Canopy masked and base coat applied; wings and engines undercoated. Spinner cap faired in.  Spotted the need for a bit more filler, to be sorted tomorrow.

Main u/c fitted and.....phew, I got the ballast right and it's not a tail sitter!

Cool, I've been wanting to do a similar model for quite awhile after seeing a drawing online that I can no longer find... I did however find a profile on deviant art:

Not familiar with that drawing (and I can't open it at the mo), will try later.

Anyway today: Xtracolor Duralumin on the wings, rear fuselage.  Xtracolor Burnt Iron u/c wells.  Final bit of filling done, will sand down later.

Will finish the Duralumin tomorrow, probably also some mixed metallic colours here and there to vary the colour scheme.

Race against time, thank goodness I'm retired now!!

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

All painted up (bar any touching up).  Markings and final varnishing tomorrow.  Have a vague back story I must finalise.  Not a long or involved one, so if you're tempted to wait with baited breath then don't!
