Sounds a good deal.

OK, you've got a two week extension, but not one MINUTE more. That means it'll end at 23:59 Wednesday 141th October 2020 local time wherever you are.

I know it's an accidental typo, and I shouldn't make fun of it  because I've made plenty in my time,............but I do like the concept of  141th October 2020.

We don't need to give this year either any more ideas or time.

This is WhiffWorld, you surely don't expect ACCURACY, do you?  ;D ;)

Each year, October 141th is the day of asymmetry (with Blohm und Voss sponsor) ;D
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

zenrat

In the current lockdown circumstances it feels like each month has that many days.

Not sure what this is (although the tail-light treatment looks 70's - Kit will know) but it does have the circular symbol.

I was wondering about that too, but the filename contains the answer: it's the Rover P8, which never reached production:

Doooh!  :banghead:

The much missed P8, why didn't I remember that? Admittedly I only ever saw one of them, and that was toward the end of my time at Pressed Steel, but it was a pretty awesome machine. MUCH larger than a Rover 2000 (otherwise known as the P6) and right in the Jaguar XJ6 market area too.

That crash test, on the MIRA linear induction motor powered crash rig, was what killed the P8 project apparently as the passenger compartment crumpled instead of the engine bay. At the time it was rumoured that Jaguar management had caused it to be canned as they were both under the BL banner by then, but apparently not.

Lots of fascinating (for car buffs...) on the P8 project here :-

There's a remarkable resemblance to the 1976 Mitsubishi Galant Sigma:

PR19_Kit

There is too, but I suspect the P8 was much larger, it was about the same size as the first XJ6.

I wondered if David Bache, the P8's designer, had anything to do with the Galant's design, but he was still working with Austin Rover until 1982.

Downunder, Mitsubishi added a new centre section to the Sigma and produced a much larger version called the Magna.  I visited Bangkok in 1990 and saw all these midget, Asian Sigma cars.  Most disconcerting.

I had an idea today which I won't move forward with myself but which a quick builder might get done before the (extended) deadline.

What if an aircraft manufacturer developed an aircraft equally suitable for both Army and Navy service?  Might they not, for formal presentation of the prototype to the prospective clients  paint one side of the airframe in green and the other in blue?

Some airlines did exactly that, probably the most famous being the BA Concorde G-BOAD.

That was painted in the BA Red Tail scheme on the starboard side and Singapore Airlines scheme on the port side. It would have  been much better in the BA Landor scheme, but they scrapped the arrangement before that came in. But I'm going to do my 1/72 Airfix Concorde like that anyway.

KLM and Viasa did the same thing with one of their 747s, and there's even a decal sheet for that one!

Thanks for the link. I 've just spotted the Austin  FL2 it looks like the FX-4 'London black taxi ' without the for hire sign.  Brings back memories of me driving the St Dunstan's charity for the war blinds' silver TX1. Now known as the Blind Veterans UK.
