Fleet air arm Twin pioneer C.O.D aircraft

This build took a lot longer than  I  could have ever imagined  to complete, and it nearly went  in the parts bin. The  fuselage  was terrible  and one side was/is slightly smaller  than the other, and needed a lot of surgery to  sort out. Lots of putty super glue  and swearing.  Anyhow, using  the panel lines  to paint  along were no longer an option  due to the marvellous fit so, I  just  cracked on even though it looked wrong.  The tail didn't fit right either, so the fuselage  needed trimming down half a millimetre at a time to get it something like.  Good job  I  like twin pioneers isn't it.  Anyhow, this is a fleet air arm  C.O.D aircraft  operating  from no specific  air station  or used by any specific  unit as it was sort of a pool aircraft  and used by several different crews at different locations. The aircraft was in service  during  the mid 50's.

I could do with taking some  better  pictures of this but then it would  show just how  out of line  this thing is, so I won't.

Love it ! For sure some better, more atmospheric pictures would really do her justice, but I do like the Yamaha backdrop you have going on there !

Its the  Valom kit in 1/72nd scale, I  was so looking forward to building this  kit  and in the box it looks really nice, but its not
Really.  I will take some more pictures tomorrow, as my living room lighting is terrible.

I know what Vallom can be like. They can look fantastic in the box, but ..................... . Still I'm going to make a start on my Fokker T.V. in the next week or so

That worked really well Chris, the ESDG over Sky scheme works VERY well on that pudgy shape.

A Twin Pin wouldn't have needed a catapult or arrestor gear to get on and off a carrier, but the question is, could it fly fast enough to catch up with the ship?

I assume that it lands by virtue of the carrier slowing down until the Twin Pin is effectively stationary above the deck, then hordes of matelots rush out and wrestle it to the ground.      I've heard stories of Swordfish being landed that way!

That's funny I was thinking exactly the same idea
I was going to base flights  at the various Naval stations around the British coast,
Another flight in Malta to cover the Mediterranean and one in Hong Kong to cover the Far East.
Not sure if they would need folding wings in case they had to be struck down on the carrier?
But I'd guess it would be likely that they would fly out with the spares/provisions etc and fly back
To base the same day.
Interesting to hear your difficulties with the kit, from looking in the box it looked
Like it would go together quite well.

My dad told exactly those stories from his time on a merchant carrier  He also told of the Swordfish T.A.G. swearing to his crew mates in the pub that it had been overtaken by a seagull or more than one occasion

Thankyou for your kind  words guys, this thing has been sat on the naughty  pile  for quite some time  as I  lost interest in finishing it. I  eventually  sorted out some  decals for it when I was  finding the ones for the  Seahorse, and finished it  while I   decalled the viggen.  Valom have  released another aircraft that I  would love to  do but I am  put off to be honest.  Yet another case of  interesting  kits being  released by  poor manufacturers.  Here's a few more  pictures, the sky had been  dull here all day, not  much better.
