The RW atomic powered aircraft concepts all had a boringly smooth conventional appearance to
the engine housings, of course as yours is Brit, I'm sure it would have ended up with a unique
appearance.

Found this on Secret Projects:

This version of an old Popular Mechanics concept has some sort of housings with intakes added
to the booms, and radomes(?)underneath. Neither are on the old PM art.

Arsenal surely?

I'll get me coat...

I'll help you on with it  ;)

Mind you after yesterday's dismal performance I'll probably be joining you.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks folks for all the suggestions and info.  I will think on the matter.  No decision needed for ages yet.

Jon.  As the prototype scheme will include the logos of those involved (Handley Page, the reactor manufacturer, and the engine manufacturer) then it will be simpler to make it just one company rather than include lots of logos (or design a new one).
The reason why illustrations of nuclear powered aircraft show them as sleek and streamlined is because they are artists impressions.  I am sure that when they actually built them they would have found they needed all sorts of inlets, exhausts, cooling fins, lumps, bumps, and external plumbing.  Plus it adds a certain Sci Fi je ne sais quoi.

Cockpit work today.  I painted the insides of the fuselage, continued painting the crew and slapped some filler on the backs of the backseaters seats.  I know not much will be visible through the windows but I will be posing it with the door open so feel obliged to put just a little more effort into the interior where it will show.  I will be knocking up some simple consoles for the three backseaters based on the bridge stations of the NCC1701.

JK261 was a Spitfire of some sort, and they've got the port serial upside down.  ;D

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

No need for multiple engine co. logos, just the consortium put together to manufacture and market the nuclear engines,
British Atomic Engines. For a period BAE became the world leader in nuclear jet engines.

The work on the Convair NX-2 went beyond artist's impressions, the artwork was based on the engineering concepts.

Well Fred, you are getting an A+ for a 4 page rousing discussion. This has been a great read.
Stuff in there I had no idea about

zenrat

I hope the build lives up to the preamble.

Just some minor painting today.  All five grew members will be dressed in silver fallout suits.

Does this mean that the shielding isn't quite perfect & the crew are developing extra appendages? :o

Reminds me of the story my Great-Uncle Graham 'Doc' Gordon told about when he had to land his Halifax,
'Friday the 13th', at a US base due to mechanical issues on the return trip from Germany. The USAAF pilots
were fascinated and several were given a walk-through. While looking at the pilot's position one asked about
armour, his reaction was WTF when Graham thumped the single plate behind his seat.
