Ahhh, but is the Mug of Tea performing a useful function, holding the aircraft upright?

#136
It was acting as a neutrino sink absorbing radiation emitting from the reactor following a test run on the containment field calibration.

As well as holding the tail in place.

The tail cone is together and just needs a touch of PSR.  I need to look at the flaps to see how they fit and possibly scratch up some struts/tracks as I wan them deployed.  I should probably also take a look at the undercarriage as Lee has mentioned a couple of times that it is dubious.

It's a Scale Reference Mug as well................  ;)

The Wooksta!

John reckoned that the problem with the u/c is the nosegear, it's either too short or too long - he couldn't remember which - and it affects the sit. Comparing it with the same piece in the Airfix Victor, it does look too short. but I'll put some blocks in the nosegear bay to give it the extra height when I get to it.

Bearing in mind your aircraft has a nuclear reactor in it, I'd say it'd be heavier at the back, so a longer nosegear would be better for you too.

The fit of the flaps is *VILE*, quite possibly the worst bit of the kit, so lots of dry fitting there.

The steam rising from it can also be used to gently coax errant plastic back into place

Thanks Lee.
I thought the problem with the UC was either inbuilt weakness (like the Airfix TSR2) or bad fit.  Not being true to the original I can cope with as it's a whiff anyway.  I can jack up the front if needed.  It's not as if it's overly detailed in the UC bays anyway.
Flaps likewise.  I think i'll create some structures to hold them far enough away from the wings that any bad fit won't be apparent.  Back story can explain it.

Not much on this today.  Just added more glue into the mid wing joint on the second wing.

Bet you wished you'd added a bit more detail to the cockpit now, Fred...   :banghead:

Yes and no.  Once i've masked and painted the windows and fitted the door you won't see much inside.

Thanks Kit.
I dug out all my wet & dry and wet sanded from 180 down to 1200 and then switched to polishing sponges which go down to 8000.  And then I finished with polish and a rag.
I bought the sponge pads to use on model cars but all I seem to succeed in doing with them is polishing through the paint on raised edges.   :-\

Terrific job on the canopy mate

I used to use, still do sometimes, toothpaste as an intermediary medium when polish canopies.

Thanks Chris.
I use metal polish if I don't need to do the full polishing pad thing.  But toothpaste is about the same level of abrasiveness.

I use toothpaste to polish canopies too, so long as it's the old fashioned sort that comes in a tube anyway.

Really sparkling finish.

This is coming along really well
