Now I have Roundabout in my head...  I know it was not on Close the Edge.. but you put the Yes Album cover up.

Now back to the Victomic, be interested to see where you are at.

Roundabout is probably my favourite Yes song.

I fitted the heat sinks into both wings today and started painting the intake turbine panels.

Here's a pic of it with the wings shoved into place.  No glue yet.

Putty?  You don't need putty on that wing join, my lad!

Looks good, mate.  Damn Atomic.  Does it glow in the dark?

Not much, no.  But there is a visible gap so some will be needed.  I glued the RH wing on today.  LH wing is waiting for the intake turbine panel to be fitted when the paint dries.

Not yet.  I hadn't considered it but now you bring up the subject I do have some luminous paint...

I'll have to do some experiments.

Just paint the crew so they glow  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

See, not that good.  But at least while fit is a bit iffy it is at least a good solid join which is hard to misalign.  Matchbox's designers could have made it so much more flimsy.
So that's both wings glued in place.  A big step forward.  It got a flight round the shed tonight accompanied by appropriate jet engine noises.

Appropriate?  :o

But it's NUCLEAR powered, shouldn't it just HUM loudly?

The gasses coming out the exhausts are still coming out at high velocity, so there's going to be a fair roar from the back-end of the engines, at least.

Plus of course a sci fi whum-whum-whum noise.

Today, after another test flight I smeared some putty into the wing roots.
Next big step will be paint so I have been thinking about a scheme and drawing up some transfers.  It'll be in the livery it wore when Kit saw it at Farnborough which archive pictures show was a specially applied patriotic scheme to emphasis the Britishness of the thing.  Handley Page, GEC and Rolls Royce - Britains best.
So, red, white and blue will be the main colours.

More primer today.
A few spots more filler tomorrow, some light sanding and then it'll be time for paint.

Actually one my customers WAS in a nuclear power station, and bizarrely it was right across the river from my house! With a pair of binoculars I could see the silhouette of the test machine through their windows too.  ;D

But it took 45 mins to get here as I had to go round via one of the Bridges. :(
