It strikes me as having a very similar look to many sci-fi Moon/Mars mobiles. The artists who drew such things probably had little idea of the actual weight limits imposed by the 'tyranny of rockets'.

Wow I was not aware of those, or that they had made it to the pole!  Neat stuff
