I have been thinking of how to scratch build some  long wings to stick on a CF-100 , originally thought of using  some thick styrene sheet, but I  am not  convinced I  could  reduce the  thickness  down to the tips  . It will be something similar to  this build of yours Kit, and be in RAF service too. Thankyou for the  inspiration
Chris

The wings from an Airfix U-2 fit nicely. Built a recce version a few years ago.

As Ratty says, kick off with some wings from a U-2, if you can find one of course.

Alternatively you can scratchbuild some by layering the wing structure. Make the overall outline in the thinnest material you think you'll need, and then layer shorter and narrower layers as you go toward the wing roots. It also makes for a very strong wing as well, when some kit supplied long wings can be much too flexible.

Don't ask me how etc etc................
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Cheers Kit? I  shall look in to that method  when I come to build  the canuck

This shape seems vaguely familiar somehow.   ;D

After the 2nd PSR session I gave it another coat of primer, and dropped it................ :(

The starboard tailplane snapped off, so it'll need a THIRD PSR session on that joint, but if it's not perfect that'll be just too bad, I've had enough PSRing on this build.

Alternatively one could start with wings from a larger scale kit and reduce the chord by cutting out a strip across the whole span.
Ailerons and flaps might need to be reduced to suit.  Although I can see some advantages in having monster flaps.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I had suggested this looong ago. Parts fit perfectly:

Excellent idea Fred, I will  look at what is useable  when the time comes.  I just missed out on an Academy  U2 too, which  to be honest  was a good thing as they wanted  too much  money for it. Loupagrou, that's a great idea too for building  something bigger  with  long  wings

That's the same kit as the Airfix one Chris, but seems to sell at a higher price most times.

Watch out for the 'Minicraft' labelled U-2s as although they have lots of extra bits, slipper tanks, dorsal ECM bulges etc. the cockpit canopy is too low by a factor of 2.  :banghead: Irritating if you actually want to build a U-2, but handy if you just want the wings to go on something else.....  ;)

The prototype is now fully painted apart from the small details, and even has its decals on, minimalist though they are. With luck it'll be finished tomorrow.  ;D

Someone needs to do this with a Canberra. Not those barn doors that the WB-57 has, something a little more slender and attractive.

What's wrong with the WB-57 wings? Differing from the RB-57D-wings, they didn't only work, but Glenn Martin Co actually took some help from E.E to get it right, according to some sources. That does, in my admittedly somewhat UK biased whif world, make a PR.10 not only possible, but believable.  ;)

Yes, it's the absolutely abominable Mach2 WB-57 kit, topped off with about a quarter of the very first Matchbox Cranberry I ever built, since then modified on a number of occasions. The leftovers just might be attached to an Airfix B6 nose to create a proper Avon 207 engined T.4 replacement. We all know the mk 12 should have been a RAF bird, don't we?

Time will tell.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

With that radome and the new wings it sure is easy on the eyes

Nice you think so Jalles, thanks.

It's not nearly as nice as a real PR19 though.  ;D

Cheers Kit,
The Academy kit went for 30 quid  :o which is  to me at least ridiculous.  I will keep an eye out for the  minicraft one  too, cheers.

Nice one Kit. It'll make a great 'progress' display with the rest of the PR.19s if you can get them all to one show.
