Sci-fi artist Ian McQue, he of the 'Work The Skies' flying boats/ships fame, regularly posts sketches on Twitter. Many of these look very buildable, so
I'm going to start cross-posting them on here. If you want to follow him, his account is here: @ianmcque

Some of his designs have been made as resin kits by Industria Mechanika: https://industriamechanika.com/shop/

Today he's just posted these funky trucks. The one at top right looks very doable using a MAN miltary truck cab:

Jawa sand crawler meets Mad Max 3.

Top right looks to me like a garbage truck.

Thanks H.  I have a 1/48 Soviet Army Truck on the go I was going to build OOB.  This has inspired me to change direction.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Oh nice one!

I was thinking along the lines of a 1/35th KV-2 turret on a 1/72nd truck chassis. Of course it would be easy enough to scratchbuild the basic body shapes because they're pretty simple.

Plan A has been junked because the nominally 1/25 (although I contend it is in reality 1/35 unless it is designed for dwarfs) AMT camper van body I though I could use is just too huge.
Plan B is to scratch something up from evergreen sheet.  I may get some siding in specially.  Which will mean a trip to the LHS.  Shame...

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I'm going to get my drawing pad out and design a body.  The base vehicle is a little older than Ian's sketches - A Tamiya Gaz AA.

It does indeed, although I'd call it a rubbish truck or bin lorry.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Always great to see anything from Ian McQue! I love his stuff. So industrial and well used looking.

Hmmm, I've been trying for ages to work out how I'd go about a moon buggy version of Airfix's 1/48 Coyote, these will help, ta!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The ones on the left and mid right look very much like a tall combine without the choppy bit mounted.

I've given up on this idea.  The Gaz cab is too old school to fit with a body inspired by Ian's sketches.  However, there are other options in my stash.

Just found out that Ian McQue has an art book coming out, funded by Kickstarter. Unfortunately the Kickstarter closes in 2 hours but if you're lucky you might still get in.

Basic price for just the book is £40.00. Publication date is approx. July 2025

I've just signed up for one.
