This isn't really WIF but I thought i'd ask this group of Master model butchers erm i mean builders for some help rather than get buried on ARC.
K I've decided to build a Hasegawa birdcage Corsair in F.A.A. scheme to go with the "boat"  Barracuda. While rescribing the panel lines I got the bright idea of cutting up the wings and folding them. Trouble is I've never attempted anything like this.I've found a few references and am sure I can find more and i'm not going for JMN accuracy. What I would appreciate input on is the actual method of this travesty. My razor saw blade looks a bit thick so  if i can't get a thinner one in time I was just going to mask off the lines with dymo and try and scribe all the way through. What's the best way/materials to actually put the fold together etc?
BTW if it all goes south I've got another kit I can retrieve the wings from.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Hey Leigh !

In another thread, I was talking about O-ring picks, which I use to cut out plastic. They can be found at any automotive store, mine are from Snap-on Tools, and cost me $25 bucks.

I use the one that has a 90 degree bend. I put it in the panel line I'm going to cut out, and pull on it with a bit of down pressure. You need to do a few strokes, but it works great, especially on a line that isn't straight, like the Corsairs wingfold. Once you've dragged it across the top a few times, you can see it showing on the other side, and attack it from there as well.

And if you're having trouble getting the wings to hang on in the folded position, a cheap and easy way is to use corner pieces of sprue, then you can have a long spar entering both halves of the wing, and it can always be dressed up with paint or wires etc.

But most of all, have fun, buddy !

You could also use the backside of the point of a #11 blade on an x-acto knife to cut the joints.  That's how I do most of my cutting.

There should be a resin or white-metal wing fold set for the corsair out there somewhere.  Maybe a quick search on google would turn something handy up. . .
