For years we've moaned about people being more into playing games than making models. Now, the two have merged  :o  ;D

Somebody has created a computer game where you simulate building a model kit. It includes unboxing, cutting the sprues, sanding, glue, and painting. The only thing you can't do is hold it in your hands  :banghead:

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

does it feature whiffing and kitbashing?

Whatever next...............  :o

I bet you only get one PSR session though, so it won't be THAT realistic.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Computer-graphics guys already talk about 'kitbashing' when greeblifying sci-fi models. You can buy packs of ready-made 'kitbash-style greeblies' so that you don't have to model every little tank wheel and car engine part from scratch...

I'm sorry if it offends but I actually think that's a little sad.

Not offended either, but how is it "sad"?

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Does it feature such authentic parts of modelling as...

- glueing your fingers together
- tiny parts going 'kapwinggg' and disappearing into the carpet as you cut them from the sprue
- peeling off the masking tape only to find that you've removed the paint underneath along with the tape

That would be part of the add-on pack where you pay an extra $5 for added realism

Because, in the same way FPS's replaced kids going outside to play & run around with toy guns (or any computer simulation replacement of any toy you prefer to choose), this takes away the physical aspect of building a tangible "thing".

Part of the digitisation of hobbies & games, in a way quite literally, to where only the digits are exercised.

There was Airfix Dogfighter many years back. Not quite the same, it was a pure video game.  You selected the model you wanted to fly and flew around the house shooting up other models and household objects for power ups.  Fun if I recall, never had it myself though.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

We think on similar lines sir although you've put it far more eloquently then I could of

I must admit part of my feelings of sadness emanate simply from my age but the best way I can describe why I feel the way I do is to refer you to "In the Year 2525" by Zager and Evans which topped the charts back in 1968. It's just it won't even take until 2099 at the rate we are going  :-\
