When the September Airfix Mag dropped through the letter box this morning it contained a pull out supplement of UK Model Shops by county/local government area.

Now whilst I applaud them including it and will be keeping it safe there are a couple of oddities.Greater London is credited with 6 model shops. Now two of these are branches of Toy Barnhaus. Now when I went into the Croydon one around Christmas they had no models or modelling material (I was looking for a 5 year old's present so that didn't bother me) and I doubt they have any now although I will check. 2 of the other listings are for branches of Toy Galaxy and the same might well apply there.

So useful ? Yes but check by phone before setting off on a trip, especially by public transport  :-\

Might it be worth us making up our own list?   I'll offer Hereford Model Centre:- 01432 352 809 and Abergavenny Models:- https://www.abergavennymodelcentre.co.uk/
as reliable and in my area.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Dont know how useful Scalemates is.  It shows two in the Charlotte, NC area where I live and both are now closed.  One is a fairly recent closure but the other closed at least 4 years ago.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Do you have an account with Scalemates? If so, you can edit those shops and list their status as "out of business".
HobbyTownUSA/Pineville and Hobby Stop/Rock Hill?

I'll do that.  Yep those two are gone.  There are a few others in the (much greater) area that should be added though.

That's the problem with any listing, either print or on-line, in that whilst relatively easy to set up they are out of date almost immediately and are a right pain to keep up to date.

I always work on the basis of using them as a starter for 10 and then checking before travelling. At the same time I also check for local pubs.  ;)
