I remember that advert, but didn't think it was nearly 40 years ago ! Must have been in Air Enthusiast ?

It did the rounds.  I remember it from Military Technology, International Defence Review and one or two others at the time.
I saw it on the back cover of an early 1980's issue of Air International.

The AEW I want to see done is the VC10 one with the Nimrod style nose and tail - did Eddie Kruk ever finish his?

And no, I'm not doing it with either of mine as I have RW plans for them.

Very interesting work going on.

Those adverts were interesting in the mags.

I was always taken by the C-130 version for years and always wanted to build it.

Then along came the Cammet Nimrod conversion............................

I want to do that to a Victor ... has it been done by anyone?

The crew would need a periscope to see over the radome though.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

in a pinch, you could line up the top of the radome with the windows, and have the dome stick out below the fuselage:

IDK if the Victor has enough ground clearance to allow this though.

zenrat

Just stick the radome on the front of the Victor and add a new pilots position up on the roof with a Canberra PR.9 canopy.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I used the 1/72 Matchbox/Revell kit,  I started it but didn't finish it as I stuck the Martin Marlin hull to the underside. The rear part fits without too much trouble,  whereas the front needs a new cockpit canopy. I think that I used the
KC-97G refuelling position clear plastic piece and used that as it seemed to fit better than the Vulcan canopy. You will need a lot of nose weight or add an extra main landing gear in line with the other two fitted to the bomb bay.  I do have the Airfix HP Victor B.Mk2 (BS) in the stash but I want to build the Supersonic bomber version  sort of kitbashing with the Airfix Rockwell B-1B.

I'm sure that the Cammett set would fit nicely with the Convair B-36 or RB-36. :banghead:

I've always been impressed by that build Martin, the C-130 and C160 are on my 'to-do' list as I work through the various aircraft in the advert. But I'm torn between building the Sherpa this way or building it OOB. If only I could find another one ---

Does anyone know if there is a decal sheet for the 1/72 BAe Nimrod AEW conversion?

Did they carry any other than the usual two colour roundels, fin flashes and numbers?

I was wondering more if there might be a 'what-iffy' sheet or something like that.

D'oh! I'm not thinking straight --- if the Nimrod AEW had gone ahead, there wouldn't have been the E-3Ds would there --- and I've got a spare sheet of E-3D decals in the stash
