I want to build an old model of a Val  (type-99 model 1 1). Decals are from 1998 and have got lots of small "cracks" in them and are very rough to touch.   :-\

I have tried coating other old sheets either with Klear or a varnish, honestly do not remember which   - but it did not work. Was speaking to SWMBO who suggested a cool iron with a tea towel. Well ink is oil based so might melt back down?! Anyone got any ideas please?  :banghead:

Have to admit not the end of the world as I have spares which I can cobble together.

Thanks Geoff

Well, you could try liquid decal film from microscale but if they are already cracked it's probably too late for that.

I'm afraid your best bet is the spares bin.....

Thanks Tom. IIRC I tried to do something similar with Kleer with no success. So spares bin it is Cheers, Geoff.

Difference is that the decal film is specifically formulated for restoring old decals whereas Kleer, etc., aren't.
