Now Avis is soon releasing an 1/72 Edgley Optica kit in 1/72 I'd like to see your plans to Whif the Optica....

I was thinking about:
a COIN version
a Navalised (subhunter) version.
Cargo plane
Cropduster or flying firefighter

Cheers,

Instant thought is Forward Air Control with target-marking rockets and extra radio aerials.

Cropduster or flying firefighter

Two of my favorite job's for aircraft to do, but where would the hopper or tank fit in a Optica...

Maybe as a fire spotter/director aircraft.

Replace the wings with tilt fans.
Loooooong span high altitude version crewed by an astronaut.
Looooooooooong span electric powered round the world version with most of the upper surface of the wings made up of solar panels.
Flying wing version.

OOB build of the Hampshire police version which used to circle my house in Southsea when Portsmouth were playing at home.  Maybe in a diorama with a 1/72 early twenties zenrat (all hair and denim) lying nicely toasted in a suburban backyard...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

As Flyer says," Maybe as a fire spotter/director aircraft". Nice colorful paint job and markings. ;D

I left a possible Optica backstory lying around on this site a couple of months ago.

Is this of any use to people?   I'm happy for it to be  used/amended/modified by fellow citizens of Whiffworld if you feel as though you could benefit from it.

I re-read your backstory, and it's VERY plausible. It would also make a good basis for any Whiffery on the upcoming  kit.

I specially like the French asymmetric version...............  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Same here. I didn't know there was already a start in this Optica whiffing quest
I do like the French version too and presume there were other variants aswell...

I'm contemplating a jet powered FAC version (thanks Weaver!), maybe biplane....

So bring out your best (or worst) suggestions!

I'm delighted to see further alternatives appearing.  A jet or biplane..........or even both together would be really good .....why should the Belphegor be a unique design?

There was a 1/72 Optica by Sharkit: https://www.sharkit.com/sharkit/optica/optica.htm
Is it bad for you to want another one?

Iridescent paints, in a bug like scheme.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

You can never have enough kits of something as weird as an Optica.  ;D ;)

Well Tophe, the Sharkit kit is over € 19 more expensive than the Avis kit. I can't tell the difference in quality but sure will share pictures once I got the Avis kit in next month.

Can't an Optica be FASS-ed?

Cheers,

Why not? Almost everything else was planned to be.  ;D
