For the benefit of non-railway people  "CAPE"  is railway telegraphic code for "cancel",   according to Every Young Person's Bumper Book of Railway Terminology**  It's quicker to send    CAPE 1S27*   than to spell out  ' Cancel the 12:15pm express from Glasgow Central to Manchester  Piccadilly'

**Actually, it's the Wordsworth Railway Dictionary
*1S27 is railway code for a class one express(1) originating in Scottish Region(S) train number 27

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I think a goods train would commence with a 6, but there are railway experts here who can confirm that..............or tell me I've got it totally wrong.

Some of them would, but there were some Class 2 freights at one stage.

But it's all changed since my day.

Class 6, 7, 8 and 9 are or were all goods/freight/departmental workings different by being loaded or unloaded and or speed.

Almost all our test trains, apart from the APT-E itself, were Class 9s, which meant we got shunted into every passing loop on the system en route to a test site. :(

It could take all DAY to get from Derby to Carstairs sometimes!

More ponderings.... could the Westland Whirlwind WW2 fighter bomber have made a stop gap night fighter with a 2nd seat and radar keeping the 4x 20mm cannon?
