How much is "too much" weathering?

Paint doesn't last long at the back end of a Hun but that's a lovely patchy finish on the rest.  It'd be "fun" to try and replicate in 1/72.

Degradation of the finish on the F-35s is interesting. Wonder how stealth performance suffers.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

The Greeks REALLY didn't look after their A-7s, did they?  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Given how precarious their finances could be, I don't think they cared, so long as they flew and dropped ordnance.

I doubt if it makes much of a difference so far, plus it's only on the topsides.  ;)

A heavy pre-shading and a very light, patchy top coat?

I've seen the Phantom done in FSM and it was quite a nice job.
IIRC a light overcoat and lots of sellotape rolled over it.
(these days they'd probably use hairspray...)

Ditto the Hun, and aside from the hard edges the masking fluid that was used caused, it looked good too.

Corsair?
So that'd be engine oil presumably.

And mixed with, presumably, coral dust.

Yep, that's a late F4U - and it should be all dark-blue...!  :o
I'd love to see the whole aircraft, and in color!

Me too! It's a photo by the famed photographer David Duncan Douglas of a Corsair on Okinawa. I don't know if there are others in the series (and he photographed almost exclusively in B&W...)

But in my search I did find a photo of DDD himself in a modified drop tank on a P-38 that he used to take in-flight combat photos.
